Mark,
No need to worry about self promotion! I’ve been listening to the Hunt Backcountry podcast for a while now. Great podcast!
Do you think the Superstrand is a bit too warm or non breathable for active insulation?
Has anyone used the OR Superstrand synthetic jacket yet? Any comparisons with something like a Sitka Ambient or Kuiu 240 in terms of versatility?
For use mostly in the PNW of BC.
Got mine last winter. Super warm. Way warmer than my montbell with the 800fp. It’s a really nice piece of kit. Plus the warranty with arcteryx is unreal
Don’t discount the regular backpacking/hiking brands. My icebreaker 200/260 baselayers have held up amazing for years. No piling and very soft materials. I’m sensitive to the wool itch even with merino and the icebreaker stuff never makes me itch.
Good sales can be found regularly too.
I’ve been thinking about updating my sleeping bag systems for a while now. Currently run an older 15° Sierra design 650 fill bag.
I’m looking at buying a Teton canvas bag for use in the wall tent and truck. Then getting a synthetic Marmot Ultra Elite 20° for backpacking. I live in BC for...
I actually had an Arcteryx Beta AR that I got on exchange for a Gamma MX hoody that was sent in for repair. Comparing it to the Kuiu Chugach, it sounded like I was crunching plastic bags. Very loud. I ended up trading that in for a Cerium puffy. Super warm and a really nice puffy
Just picked up a pair of the Scarpa Kinesis gtx on sale. I’ve worn it only for a short hike and it felt great. Replaced the insoles with green superfeet.
Anyone tried these boots? Any comparison in durability and comfort when compared to Crispi?
That’s a rough schedule. I’m 4 on 4 off with 12 hour shifts and 1 hour commute. Used to get up at 330am in the morning to gym. Now I concentrate more on getting good sleep.
I’d hit the gym hard on days off. But still try and get something quick in on your work days. Even 1-2 quick workouts will...
Bender,
thanks for the info. Would you recommend the LCP or Sherman for my purpose. Or are they both equal. I’m looking for a small daypack that can hold a deboned deer/bear on the shelf.
I’m a huge Kuiu fan. Have been following them for years.
I got a pair of Attack pants last year in 34 which is what I wear for everything. It was a bit tight in the waist and very tight in the crouch. Felt like my balls were being squished. Had to return it for the bigger size. Chugach fit TTS...
