Steve O said his worked well at the top of this page. I was going to wait until someone else was curious enough before asking him for a photo of that setup. So, how about it Steve?
You said unobtrusive and no-brainer, so I wondered if you used a harness, and if the FRP permits it to be carried in one?
I don't own the attachment, but being incompatibe with a harness is the antithesis of unobtrusive and no-brainer for my uses.
I'm on the wait-list for one, but I'm still...
The bird-nerds were having a pretty detailed talk about it. I think the thread title referenced using it on 8x, but someone played the scientific-study card and started dropping numbers. Go down the rabbit hole at your own risk.
I've had multiple 8x and always thought they were perfect; never desired 10s until the wider FOV made it a nothing-to-lose affair. I think it does help your brain stabilize the extra shake of the 10s, but I can't help but be curious what it would look like through the 8s.
I don't think I'm...
Thats like 4 of ya. I have a feeling the FOV is so wide on the 8's you can check your own 6. Curious to hear thoughts from those who've directly compared to the 10's.
Not asking me, and probably asking about 12s instead of 10s, but maybe its worth something anyways.
For me, out of the box: disappointed. If your eyes are bulging out of your head you might be able to get in there enough to see the field stops from the factory setting (pos 7, fully extended)...
Thats a great thought. Only muleys I've seen while on a trip are normally standing on the front lawns of the houses along the street as I drive out. Kinda like the flower girls when you land in Hawaii, except the exact opposite.
My only experience with them was trying to get them to stop...
Just pack up and like... drive to Denver? Still time to sort it out, but I think the circumstances in the first post require being a bit more picky than I'm used to when picking a place to stop. One or two of these dudes would be coming home by med-evac if they tried walking where I've always...
Either everyone sees this coming from a mile away, has had it happen to them or, the most likely scenario... you're all in my dreams writing down every little hesitation and doubt that makes it to the surface. It's uncanny!
It's pretty brutal for a couple days, then I finally start feeling like a goat JUST in time to pack it up and go home.
I did a very small bit of research on drop camp outfitters. I'm very open to the possibility that I've misjudged the whole thing, and see the utility in it, but holy cow that...
This one had been nagging at me a bit but I kinda swept it under the rug. Reading someone else say it... that would suck and be a lose-lose. Extra truck adds costs but could make a biiiigg difference in the right/wrong circumstance.
Gave me a thought to use the outfitters' info as a way to...
Good thought. The "etc" also includes budgets and attitudes. I always associated a drop camp with private land, often guides, etc, but may be way off base on that one. Kinda chuckling that I just never needed to know anything about it until now. Appreciate your insight!
I'm sure it's on here, and I'm sure I could piece the info together, but I'm hoping to avoif eliminating units 1 by 1 if there's another option (computer time goes to school these days). Here goes...
I'm going to be joined by some friends next year for what is shaping up to be a 2nd season...
Surprised to not see much about the 8s. Having 10s only makes me even more curious... thinking the 10s might be the sweet spot (though the 12s seem a legit replacement for larger binos), but can't help but wonder if the 8s would drop you into a magically massive and detailed world when you...
