Agree with you about current Leupold spotters. I too had an old straight GR spotter, although 30x, and sent it in for repair. They replaced the objective lens with inferior glass so I sold it. Compared my original Leupold 30x side by side with a new 15-30x GR and there was no comparison, the...
Thanks for the post. I was contemplating the same two bags and the lowest price on the Cosmic Ultra I could find was $210 with a 10% cash back through Active Junky. For $117, I ordered one. That's decent score for a 20 degree rated 2.4 lb 800 Dridown bag. Thanks again!
Free bump for a great spotter. I have one and I too compared them side by side with several other high quality scopes. This one was the winner. Hard to beat for that price!
I too am looking to by a Garmin Inreach and thought the REI sale might be the best deal. Unfortunately they don't offer the usual 20% one full price item this year. All I've received is a 20% an REI Outlet item for the Labor Day sale. Those are definitely not in the Outlet.
Steel security boxes have proved the most effective for us against critters. They also provide an additional level of weather protection. Mounting high is an option, although it can significantly reduce your detection zone.
We lost quite a few cameras to bear attacks before moving to steel...
Mobil 1 2021 rebate program:: https://acbincentives.com/mobil1/terms.asp
Good at many retailers, including Walmart. They had a similar rebate program last year and it can all be done online. Tough to beat $12 and change for 5 qts of full synthetic.
Carbon fiber Cascade Mountain Tech trekking poles back in stock at our local Costco, $29.99. Hard to beat for the price. (A person can order them online, but only sold by the pair for $69.99...
I endorse these pants as well. Love them, especially for the price. I have 4 pairs and they've held up very well. Very comfortable, don't need to wear a belt due to the stretch waistband, and fit me well (5'8, 165) in a 30x32.
Looking through this thread I see several variations of pants...
Browning cameras get a lot of love on here, and personally I've had good luck with them also. Hard to find for $70 or under, however.
Today Active Junky is offering 14% cash back at Cabelas, and they have a Browning Strike Force Apex for 89.97. With Active Junky that would make it $77.37...
Not sure if this will help you, but here's a few links to some trail camera footage from a mix of brands:

As for brands, yes, Browning generally makes a decent camera. I've owned most brands and had good luck with Browning, although I have had some fail after a few years use. Using security boxes should help extend the life of a cam as it provides some added weather protection.
The Browning...
Bears are the primary reason I run security boxes as well.
Camlockbox.com has the most comprehensive selection and a box for just about every cam made. They sell quality boxes and I've always been happy with them. Their "timber screws" are very nice as well and fairly priced, in my...
Meopta Meostar S2 82. The Cabelas Euro Instinct is the same spotter minus the removable eyepiece. Keep an eye out in the classifieds and one of these can usually be found for around $1600 or less.
Conduct a search on here and you'll see there's a lot of people besides me who own and love this...
