don't discount easier to draw units with poor access. Bucks can be had, just need to be patient and wait for them to come on public. If you are wanting 80" plus, you probably won't find it on any unit for less than 12 points, but it can happen on any unit. Difference between a 76" buck that...
I try to shoot as far as my setup allows. Last set up I could go to 140 yards. I haven't shot new set up as much yet and only out to 120 yards. Most times I practice10-70 yards, but fun to launch themn on those windless days with time to walk back and forth.
Very cool tag. I actually hunted the crazy french ranch 10 years ago for elk when it was still private and leased out, I believe 2nd season (end of October back then). Pat Lancaster was the outfitter that hunted it back then. I did see some deer, but the guides loved the deer hunting there...
I am fan of Euro. I have a full body goat and 5 shoulder mounts of deer/elk and caribou. Not worth the money to me any more. Euro and go hunt some more.
I liked the ventum 33 over the rx-5 ultra. Waited for new bows. I was thinking I would like the rx-7 ultra, but pretty sure I will be buying the rx-7. It felt and shot great and I enjoyed the weight over the rx-7 ultra. They didn't have a ventum pro to shoot. 29" draw and 70 pounds.
LOTS of hiking. I would hate to be wearing HH Impertech (Moose hunt or fishing it is great) hiking that much. I was sweating like a pig while hunting haul road. I wouldn't go with light weight, but I would do kuiu or sitka rain gear that breathes well. I had sitka pants and kuiu jacket for...
5 years ago it was a warm and dry 3rd season. I spent almost the whole hunt waiting for deer to transition, las day and 1/2 I hunted in the trees. Wished I would not have waited as the bigger bucks didn't show up that year. The previous year they did when a friend had the tag. Good luck 2nd...
We just did the haul road. Had a blast. Been a dream for a long time. Not sure I'll ever be back as there are so many awesome adventures to do, but this was totally worth it. We boned animals out in the field and kept meat in cooler with ice. It was cold enough that most kept meat hanging...
Just saw this thread. I leave in 7 days so I'm sure we will pass each other. We have a truck and camper from go north and a uhaul van!! Good luck on the bow repair. I would be stressed.
