    15x binos or spotter?

So question... when you go out on a hunt where you now bring those Vortex 18's. Is that the ONLY Optic you bring with you? Or do you also bring along another smaller optic for hand-held quick-checks on stuff? Like when you're on the move.

Sorry to hear that man. Shattering a wrist is NOT fun.

    Lets talk predator calls--

The clarity of the X24's Tweeter? Especially If you've got a high-quality, high-bitrate-encoded recording made with modern recording equipment? Is uncanny how real and true to life it is! The responsiveness of the Remotes cmds. The nice crisp clarity of the Remotes screen. It's effective...

    Mouth call vs Electronic call

In a high-pressured Dove/Quail area, where I've been successful consistently with the yotes there... I found they DID NOT like the decoy being there! This one? He came barreling in, but when he saw the Mojo Critter 2, he must've made a hard 90 degree turn when he was behind this one bush just a...

    Howa Superlite 308win Field Evaluation

Obv recoil is different for each person. Lot of it depends on damage you already have, like to your shoulders. I've had a few tears in there over the years, and surgical correction on my shooting side. This UltraLite, in 6.5cm, was SO MUCH nicer to shoot then my much heavier Savage Trophy...

    Mouth call vs Electronic call

I will say though? Since the call sound is realistically only upper frequencies, that small speaker they're using is very efficient for what they need it to do/be. It can produce quite uncomfortable / piercing levels of sound. And.. it runs for a darn long time on just one 9v battery.

    Mouth call vs Electronic call

Got a question for those of you which utilize mouth calls a lot. So ok, you're sitting there, and with your hand, you're cupping the end of it and such moving your fingers to add "realism" to the sound being produced. So what I'd like to know is, how do you usually handle the situation where...

    Mouth call vs Electronic call

Interesting... I'd always done like 2-3 minutes on... and maybe 60-90 seconds off. And sometimes do things like try to pick the sounds ordering, such that I'm ending it with like a sound that logically makes sense. Like let's say I'm trying Rabbit sounds. Well, then I make sure towards the...

Rant - What happened to respect for other hunters???

Brother? WE just don't know any better, at least not at first anyway. Thankfully there are these forums. That being said, I already knew better than to want to be near another "orange hat" at all. (As time goes on I'm learning how dangerous it is to have them near you) But things like.. if...

Rant - What happened to respect for other hunters???

OMG... looking at those pictures? That's a TOTAL d~~k move. That "hill" isn't even hard to negotiate! Steep, meh a lil, but No "endless buckthorn" even. Dude could have AT LEAST hiked like 600-1000yds along the top of the ridge you were sitting at, and THEN descended down... potentially...

    Painting a stock

Hrmm... Seems like there's Kydex ones, then the kind this link spoke about. (The link has since expired BTW) What is less desireable about the Kydex-based ones? Do BOTH types require drilling the stock to mount the Cheek Riser?

What the closest face-to-face encounters you've had with animals while hunting?

Oof! Yes Sir they Do! I was just "la la la" walking along back to the truck out of this one canyon, on a dirt road, kinda huggin the side. As I walk by a very large Oak with a lot of leaf matter under it. I must have startled this Mature Rattler cause WOW was He Loud!!! Just straight to...

    Painting a stock

Ooh! Can you expand on how to add cheek riser to the factory 783 stock like that? I'd really like to add something like that to at least two of my rifles. A 783, and a Savage 93R17.

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

A small enough and lightweight enough Metal Detector so that you can bring it with you when Bow Hunting! To aid in arrow retrieval after a miss. (And yes, I know there are Bluetooth'd knocks now)

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

They need to make something like these VAPUR Water Bag/Bottles.. but offer one that's tougher skinned and verified to be Buckthorn-proof! (Heavy Duty Puncture Resistance) I'm sure there exists materials to do it now.

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

For me, that wrap-around strap they add for more retention is the PITA with their setup. Bugs having to fuss with that when suiting-up. I like the speed of the draw, but that extra strap just bugs when in the field. Switched over to Marsupial's Gen2 with their own under-hanging holster...

    Summer Coyote Tactics

And don't you just hate it? When you're out hiking and the large pot you were bringing with you to use at the campsite, falls out of your hand and tumbles down the hill, getting all beat up and old looking, then comes to rest at some spot.. and then a rain happens and it becomes filled with...

best general purpose STEEL shot-size for combo of big & small ducks?

You'd want to be prepared for, the longest range shot you feel would be likely to happen. You can always just load up with the beefier shot size, and then if a smaller species presents closer by.... you can do what I sometimes have to do like when shooting doves coming in to perch near my...

Skin on or skin off when field dressing Elk?

I'm just curious... never did Elk before, but I'd assume you guys get this too?... In Elk Environments, do you guys ever have the "Meat Bees" real bad that want to come right on in to get at the meat while you're processing it? In the place I'm thinking of, I learned to first always carry the...
