I'll posts a lot in the end with the final story.
Sheep are just cool animals. We had a lamb walk up to 50 yards and check us out. Had a 1 horn at 150 yards below us just walk away when we were on a ridge. Had 4 rams running down a ewe at 30 yards blow right pasts us. Lots of cool memories...
Thanks fellas. I appreciate the encouragement.
I've learned a lot through this. I am not a trophy hunter. I thought I would give it a shot with this tag. It truly robs the enjoyment of the process for me.
For you guys that are ok with tag soup if you don't find what you are after I don't know...
Thank you. I hope I don't sound bitter. I'm grateful for the tag and the opportunity.
I just want to help the next guy who gets a great tag. You can look at 100 sheep and what separates 170" and 175" is 5" across 10 measurements and judging that is very difficult and really shouldn't determine...
I’ll make this brief. We hunted sunup to sundown for 7 days. No shots were fired. Didn’t see anything over low 160s rams. The big couple we were after never showed back up. I’ve learned a lot, and I hope whoever draws this tag next year gives me a call.
I really messed up how I’ve hunted this...
Day 1 was a blasts booked all over. Found 20 sheep and 1 new ram that we need a closer look at. The couple we have been after never shower up. But today is a new day!

It's hard for me to believe the hunt is here. Ready to start glassing.
Boarded the plane. Ready for vegas. Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to share tomorrow!

Guides are at it every day. Seeing some good rams.
If they find a giant, I'll be flying out otherwise waiting until Nov. I'm going to give the boys as much time as possible before we go.
New rams turn up every day. It's really fun to see all of the character.
As soon as I head to the...
Very cool. Congrats to the hunter. Nice bases!
Only 3 units open for rifle right now and they typically average 150" rams. That would be a stud at 171 out of any of the three.
Great to see the pictures, if anyone else knows of someone that kills please share.
I love how the guys who have hunted sheep go for mass almost every time!
They are both cool rams and will make amazing memories. I've checked with my guide none of the units that open before mid Nov are a high priority for us. Looking at the checkout results they can produce book rams but lower...
Thank you for that reminder. Of those I can only hunt 184 & 202.
A unit has to have more than 2 tags in order for a special tag to hunt it. So 204 and 207 are off limits. I'll check with my guide on 184 & 202.
Another update. The other auction hunter tagged out on a ram we had found in July but we were holding out to see what else we could find. Beautiful ram. I'm the only ram rifle hunter in the state of NV until Nov.
With him being dead I'm curious what you guys would pick, a big curly ram or a ram...
I've talked to my taxidermist about a floor pedestal with multiple sheep on it. I currently have 0 sheep.
He recommended doing a wall pedestal and if I do get more than 1 in the future he can easily convert the wall pedestal to a floor pedestal, but once it is a floor pedestal it's hard to go...
Maybe 10+ years, and no I don't have the $$ to go big. I buy a couple of tickets in draws that really interest me or are out of my price range to just buy.
I always treat these as a donation into something I love doing and never expect to win. I will continue to do so with the idea that I'll...
