The threads being exposed doesn't bother me. The fact that there is a noticeable in old vs new adjustment raises a flag. What changed to make the difference? What else has changed that has yet to be noticed? Are the new scopes as reliable as the old? Are all the internals the same as the...
Question for the OP. How late are you hunting? What issues have you had with your scopes?
Back when I ran Leupold on my rigs, the VX3 3.5-10×40 would take me past legal light when I was hunting deep in the thick timber. It was certainly more than enough on a mountain. Legal light for me is...
I did not imply testing protocol should include NIB scopes. The information provided in the last post of the test thread did cast doubt on the integrity of the scope prior to testing, and did not provide detail of the torque specs. Wringing a scope tube like a dish rag would not be considered...
What other test have been performed on TRACT scopes? The only other test I am aware of from 24hourcampfire was the first test on a Tract Response that is manufactured in a completely different factory than the Toric?
Do you know that from the information Form provided? All I have seen is Tract provided mounting instructions that specified a torque value that was too high. Apparently they felt it was significant since they offered to immediately replace the scope. I would say the heavy ring markings would...
Assuming there is a reliability/durability issue. You cannot discount the fact the scope rings were over torqued and could have potentially damage the scope internals.
Form, thanks again for another test, your methodical approach, and the transparency to your process.
As Form mentioned, due to the heavy ring marks made prior to the test, we can't say the integrity of the scope is mechanically sound. Particularly since Tract offered to immediately replace the...
Yes, I ran one for a couple of deer seasons and was very happy. I just mounted it this week on a 22LR.
The optics are great, generous eye relief, and tracking is excellent. I have never experienced issue with RTZ, or maintaining zero.
I am not running it on a hunting rifle solely because I...
You pointed out your issue by saying you have never seen a SWFA 3-9. It has everything to do with reticle design. There are many FFP reticles that are lousy for hunting. However, the SWFA Mil-Quad and Mil-Dot reticles are very useful at all magnification settings. In lower powers, they act...
Updated scopes has me a bit nervous, particularly with their scope inventory shortage over the past few years. I am interested if their scopes will be produced from the same Japanese manufacturers that have previously produced their scopes, or if they had to go to other manufacturers...

With another season down, what are the opinions of those who are running the Tract Toric 15x56 binos. Has anyone been able to compare them directly to other 15x56's, particularly the Meopta Meostar?
There is way too much talk about "need" on this thread. What does "need" or logic have to do with anything with hunting and shooting? Truthful, none of us "need" more than few (yes one or two) center fire rifles. Hopefully my wife doesn't read this thread. 🤪 Haha
If the OP wants to splurge...
With good quality glass I am able to hunt well past legal shooting light with my 36mm-42mm objective scopes. Granted my scope may be set on 6x magnification with some of those. However, I see no benefit for me of higher light transmission (larger exit pupil) for the penalty of added scope...
A limit of 300-350 yards with a non-dialing non-ballistic reticle scope? The 270 Win or 25-06 Rem are your huckleberries.
Both have the capability of easily providing a MPBR of 350 yards when sighting in somewhere around 3 inches high at 100 yards depending on the load. No hold over...
