Considering this folder for a hiking/truck/RV gun. A bit concerned about the plastic folding mechanism and I know they had a recall. Does anyone own one of these and what has been your experience?
This was a couple of years ago so they may have changed their tech. It was the R-7 Thermarest. Said the noise was due to a "liner" they used inside to reflect heat back upwards.
Will be watching this. I chose the V3X over the Ventum pro and the Inline. Ventum was a close second, didn't care for the Inline, my 3rd place was Bowtech SR350. Will be keeping an eye on this one.
When I purchased mine I debated between the Thermarest and Exped. Went Exped and love it. Super comfortable, durable, sleeping bag stays on top, has the inflation sac, and is quiet. Everytime I laid on the Thermarest it sounded like a space blanket, tinfoil, and painters plastic being wadded...
Agree with Marbles. I love my SO Cimarron in DCF. They also make a liner for it and if you threw in a small stove you may have everyone wanting to hang out at your tent. I have not had mine in AK conditions, but have had it out on some shoulder seasons in the high rockies with no issues.
You make a good point, but as a brand new archer I wanted to know about backwall, the roll-over valley, and brace height effect. Grip is a must and since you have it in your hand you may as well let a couple fly at 10-15yds.
I was in your exact shoes about 3 weeks ago and have your exact philosophy. I will tell you what I ended up with in a moment, but first a couple things I found helpful.
1. Watch youtube videos from various people. I liked extreme outfitters, average jack archery, and nock-on. They will talk...
Is there a website/program where you can input information to make your own sight tapes? My marks are just a bit off from the tape. I am going to basically re-zero and verify next weekend, but was just wondering if anyone knew of a custom place.
Update: I am still trying to determine the Rattler, BeeReal, or Torqueless. I spent about two hours out on the range yesterday and still have a bit of the left/right sway. Vertical I am pretty steady. One thing I did was when I draw I let the bow find its natural spot in my hand which did...
I too am considering a grip upgrade, as the Mathews grip feels a bit narrow to me. I like the diagram posted above and am going back and forth between the Ultraview BeeReal and the Torqueless medium. I was pretty well sold on the BeeReal as the archery shops I frequent really like it, but the...
I think what he is saying is keep the tape folded over on the top so it is sealed and cut around the sides and bottom, that way the water doesn't seep in at the top simply runs down the tape and drips off on the bottom. Use 1 piece of tape folded not 2 separate pieces of tape.
For compressability and weight go down. I did and absolutely love the bag, granted the down will be more expensive and you want to keep it dry. Make sure to get a good insulted pad to go with it. I am running a western mountaineering bag and an exped pad. I am not under your 400.00 budget...
Appreciate everyone's comments. I think for now I will stick to the RL2 and maybe eventually go to either the Mathews, Spot Hogg, or Black Gold. As this is my first bow I am sure I will have plenty of opportunity for the next best thing...
Pulled the trigger on the Hamskea Trinity yesterday. 2 updates, saw one shop where they run the cord under a bracket that is screwed onto the limb near the axle. Not sure what that bracket is called, but it is held on by 2 small allen head screws. Also, found that Hamskea makes a bracket with...
I'm in this same decision. Like Hamskea because of the robust construction and of course they are from CO, but spoke to a pro shop today who said he did not like the cord tied to his limb due to vibration. I was thinking there would be more vibration and cord slap (stress) if it were tied to...
I could use some advice from the forum and those of you who have been shooting string and stick for years. I just purchased my first bow and I went with the Mathews V3X 33. While I wait for it to arrive I have started looking at various sights, and wanted to get feedback on dovetail mount vs...
Interesting read, my story is just a bit different except I too am a bow newbie. I went into the store expecting the Bowtech SR350 to be my first bow. I shot the V3X, Ventum Pro, SR350, and PSE EVO. Prior to the opportunity to shoot all 4 I had only shot the Ventum, but firgured if I was...
I just shot them side by side yesterday and went with the Mathews. As others have mentioned on here I felt the draw and the arrow release were smoother than the Hoyt by just a bit. No vibration on either and both were better than the other two bows I shot. In addition I like the mods system...
