So I have 223, 6.5cm, and 300 win mag Tikka superlites. The 300 win mag is cool and is the "if I ever need it" rifle, but I don't really know if it adds any value to my hunting arsenal and is not fun to shoot at the range. Honestly the 223 and 6.5 do everything I'll ever need, but I have the gun...
I don't have experience with the other magnifications, but I only will be taking this rifle to ~100 yards and I'll mainly get close shots where too much magnification can burn you quick. I think if I was regularly shooting closer to 100 yards id want the 3x slx microprism. I don't think the 5x...
If you look at my recent post history I took 6 inches off my 308 and it wasn't difficult, ended up looking good, and didn't change how the rifle shoots.
Hi. Kind of a dumb question but trying to see if a 225 ELDM can be loaded into a factory Tikka magazine in a 300 Win Mag. The length in the Hornady book seems shorter then I expected so I wanted to see where other people ended up.
Thanks. I really couldn't be much happier with the aesthetic considering it was all done and finished by hand and with a 30 year old bottle of gun blue I got when someone died. We'll see how it shoots and my dad might try to hunt with it this year. I'll update with groups when I get that done too.
Got everything around to do it including the barrel vise, metal saw blades, etc.... can't find my hacksaw 🙄 I'll update when I get it done and have some results. Might load some 175 TMKs first.
It's not really acceptable for me either. Luckily I have a few Tikkas that I rely on. It's not worth the effort for me to sell the Bergara and I had no luck trading for anything I needed. I was hoping making it a stumpy little tree stand gun that I could beat on or let my dad use would make it...
Thank you. I think I am more fishing for this type of answer. I was thinking of going 16.5" with a hacksaw, polishing it up, and making a little crown with a screw head or whatever and a drill and just rolling with it.
@Formidilosus I'm sure you love getting tagged, and I'm sorry for that, but do you have an opinion on this? Wondering if cutting 6 inches off of the end of a year sensitive barrel is likely to make a difference for the better... Thanks.
