It’s good to have a plan like the OP. Seems like a lot of people buy points with no plan. Also, it’s difficult to make plans as a NR when states keep moving the goal post every couple of years. I’ll be done with points in the next 5 years or so for the most part, and at that point my kids will...
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t think that there would be that many group applications, but realistically, there are probably more group applications in the NR pool than there are individual applications.
I would ask if you could donate a week of your time for the next few years setting up camp, taking care of the horses, and cooking in exchange for a free horseback trip in. I imagine they’re always looking for good help. You’d get to see all the country and scout it out. I think it would be fun...
Well, when you’re the last State to release draw results it’s kind of nice that they give you an option. They could give you until May 20th to opt out, and it wouldn’t screw anyone over.
So let’s say there’s a breakdown of drawn out at points for first choice primary draw:
4 pts - 5 applicants (2 successful)
3 pts - 5 applicants (2 successful)
2 pts - 10 applicants (1 successuful)
How does that even happen? What am I missing that will help me understand this? Common sense...
I thought this was possibly by hunting partner writing this until he said they didn’t get into elk. He shot a bull, so I think it was tolerable. I had a few days of it worse than ever in my life. Like every step downhill was an audible fart when we were moving quicker. We were both laughing...
If you’ve put the time in to train your dogs well enough to big game hunt with you, then I say go for it. You probably spend more time with your dogs than some people do with their kids. I think it’s awesome. I have a lab that tags a long a lot. Won’t take her musky fishing though. Something...
I was a shingle manufacturer’s sales rep. Still work in the roofing industry but on the commercial end. I would 100% switch out those turbines for a ridge vent. Use a calculator from the manufacturer’s website. You need equal or greater intake for it to ventilate through the ridge. When you’re...
I’d invest it for the next 5 years, add to the fund, and either do a guided moose hunt in Alaska with one of the top guides (probably a waiting list anyway) or a coastal brown bear hunt. If you stick the brown bear and he mauls you to death, you’ve had a pretty good run in your late 40’s.
Or...
Why did you go with a heavier arrow? Was it because of penetration issues or reading stuff on forums? I’ve been happy with 430-440 grain arrows with a 70 lb draw weight. Seems like a happy medium (for me) between trajectory and good penetration. My opinion is that shot placement is most...
Legit explanation I could see myself doing. Even modern muzzleloaders can be a funny animal. I had a clean miss on a nice whitetail a couple years back. Think I had a Thor bullet that was maybe too loosely fit that it maybe came a little loose off the charge. Only thing I can think as it was...
