@therealthor1 To my understanding, the ELD-X was supposed to be ~2800fps from the muzzle for bullet performance but it appears you have better/more specific information. I haven't had much of a chance to play with my WM this year or get better data. I think my prepped loads are 73.1gr H1000...
Agreed with previous post. You can use 300AAC specific brass or chopped and reformed LC 5.56 brass. Harbor freight 2" chop saw, then size and trim to spec. ALWAYS anneal. I get more loads out of 300 brass when annealed. Otherwise, the case mouths crack within about 3 loadings.
After owning...
It really depends on your budget, your feet boot preferences, and terrain you are going to be hunting. I don't care for a super stiff boot and I have slightly wide feet. I tried the Crispi Colorados and they didn't fit me. I tried the Nevadas and love the boot. I am currently breaking in a pair...
Not much for fed LE presence outside of Cheyenne and Casper. Mostly USMS, USPO, and some tribal elements. Its not a very friendly state for feds.
State has DCI, WHP, and DOC. WYDOC is alright, but you will be in towns like Lusk, Newcastle, Rawlins, or Torrington. FAR from ideal locations. Last...
I couldn't bring myself to spend $200+ on Sheep Feet. No hate to those who do. I tried Superfeet (the green one they renamed to Hiker or something recently) and have bought several more when they go on sale. Very happy with them in several pairs of Crispi boots
+1 for Crispi. I have the insulated Nevadas and just received the Wild Rock GTX Plus last week. Seal the boots with Sno-seal or similar product before season, whatever you get.
@Mojave You may have some luck connecting with locals in Newcastle. The Bread Office is in touch with locals who are in need and would likely take game meat, their contact info is below. DM me if you need anything else from that neck of the woods *ahem* prairie...
I want to put some feelers out should anyone have a nice Marlin 1895 SBL in 45-70 and want to trade it for a CMP Service Grade M1 Garand. HRA receiver, 1956 production. It has a new stock and is in overall surprisingly good condition.
If you want the M1, I can part with it for $1500.
On the up...
Hey @therealthor1, I also load for that rifle. The 1:8" barrel allows for heavy bullets and the long chamber/mag allows me to run 3.595" COAL. I use ADG brass, Federal 215M primer, 73.0gr H1000, and a 212gr ELD-X bullet. You can find H1000 on Midsouth Shooters Supply, Brownells, etc. I bought...

I am trying to swap my very lightly used Colorados (US 9) for a different pair of Crispis if anyone has little feet like me.
