The possibilities are endless. I have a Cooper model 92 backcountry 6.5x284 with a zeiss 5-25 that is a dream to carry. It’s also a fun gun to shoot out of the box. Trigger is good and it’s balanced well for such a light rifle.
Like others have said it’s possible your boots are too small/tight on your feet. Once I figured this out my cold weather hunts are so much more enjoyable.
I love the Wild Rock GTX. Great cold weather boot. Not too bulky but plenty warm. If I was moving around a lot I wouldn’t be concerned wearing and uninsulated boot down to 30-35 degrees. But if sitting for long periods I’d go insulated. I vote the insulated ones and wear really good moisture...
I don’t think it’s dying. It is however very hard to find ammo and components. Until everything settles back in it will prob continue to be that way. I started reloading post sandy hook and it’s paid dividends. Anymore I try not to buy a new caliber unless I have all the reloading components...
Shop around and look for sales. Any reputable brand with the features you want at the $1k price point should be a good fit. Then I’d focus on finding good consistent ammo and start working on drop charts and verifying it at distance. Enjoy the process
