I assume you're not referring to the new DG 8x25 which allows you to automatically identify birds and mammals and connects digitally to selected apps on a smart device. The Dg was recently announced and according to the Swaro website appears to be available currently. From the website:
The dG...
I was lucky to find a 10x42 2014 SLC (current WB version) in a pawn shop for $799 recently. It included the original field case but no other Swaro accessories. The optics seemed excellent, no scratches or defects that I could tell, but the hinge was sticky and the focus knob rubbing, rough, and...
This reply is quite late, 7 months after the OP posted, but I happened to notice quite a few Swaro ELs and other alpha glass in the CloudyNights.Com classifieds, and actually best prices I've seen for used. You have to be a member to purchase but otherwise it's worth having a look!

Wow, Many thanks for all the suggestions - Tract, Nikon, Meopta...it gets so confusing you just want to make a choice and pull the trigger! I haven't had much of an opportunity to try out all of the choices even in an outdoors store. I didn't like the Nikon Monarch 5 ergonomically so didn't try...
Can Zeiss print "Made in Germany" on their glass if it is actually made in Japan? Somewhere I read that in some cases the PARTS are made in Asian countries but the final product is ASSEMBLED in Europe. The Zeiss Terra binoculars are definitely made in China, but they don't put "Made in Germany"...
Not to resurrect an old thread, but couldn't help noticing this observation above - I bought the Vortex Viper 10x42 from Cabela's and ended up taking them back, they looked and felt good in the store (ergonomically the best of several $500 brands), but "in the real world" just didn't impress me...
Thanks everyone for your feedback! I just purchased the Conquest 8x42 glass DEMO at Red Hawk Rifles at a good price, many thanks to you all for the encouragement. Looking forward to getting them out in the field!
I'm looking at several binoculars and considering the Zeiss Conquest, but understand the lens covers are pretty bad. For those of you that have this bin do you consider this a major or minor issue, and do you consider these bins worth it despite the problem? Thanks in advance for your seasoned...
I'm also in the same spot, looking for a great bin. I wasn't happy with the Vortex Razor or Viper (d/t fringing colors). Thinking of used Zeiss Conquest or used Swaro SLC. Both of these have threaded mounts for tripods which is one of my requirements, so keep that in mind. Good luck!
