I listened to a podcast (Meateater I think) on it and short version was that Idaho couldn’t get animals to bolster the herd so the only viable solution was to send the remaining animals to Canada to preserve the genetics. I can try and find it and post it for those interested.
I like how the article says humans killing grizzlies is the reason they aren’t there and in the next sentence states the last one seen was in 1996. I’m sure Idaho, Wyoming and Montana are happy to send over some bears since the hunting season is on hold.
The only thing that makes sense is they used to get scopes during a production lull and now the suppliers are busy building scopes for bigger customers so swfa gets the shaft.

This thread helped me understand bullet selection. It is worth a read. If you shop around you an usually find factory seconds which will save you money on practice bullets.
You can buy a flat top stock and get it inletted. I have 0 personal experience with this but I imagine a decent gunsmith can do it. It also opens up some options for you in stock design.
Stockys is going to release a model 70 stock, so that should help with aftermarket support.
What is your experience with Timney triggers in model 70s? I put one in mine since the factory trigger was awful but I still have the original that I could have worked over.
I’m going to have to disagree that trading a model 70 for a rem 700 is money ahead. Winchester has a 3 position safety, which allows the gun to be unloaded on safe. The trigger won’t fail and freeze or decide to fire when the safety gets tripped. The only advantage is aftermarket parts...
There are custom guns built off model 70s, you can search around and find examples. The biggest “issue” is the extractor cut when rebarrelling just costs more but I wouldn’t view it as a negative as long as the gunsmith doing the rebarrelling knows what he is doing.
In the stockys thread...
If you want to replace barrels without a lot of hassle, you can buy a barrel vice and prefits for tikkas and do it yourself. A t3x lite will be a little cheaper and you can have it threaded, and it meets your criteria for reliable and lightweight. I don’t think they make a t3x lite in 6.5 prc...
