I think Nosler is now making most if not all their own brass. In the past it was outsourced and I had also heard much of it was Norma. Bought some Nosler 270Win ammo that was probably old stock and the fired brass weighed exactly the same as Norma 270Win brass. Bought some newer stock 270Win...
I sent you a message earlier about the Swift brass you have for sale. I'm not finding it now so not sure what happened. I am interested if it is still available. Steve
I'm pretty sure Swift doesn't make enough ammo to support their own brass manufacturing facility. I believe the brass is headstamped "SWIFT" but is most likely made by one or maybe more than one outside producer. Be interesting to know. I may try contacting Swift but not sure they would tell you...
I have a 270 that is only slightly heavier than what you describe. With it's pet loads, it is by far the most accurate big game rifle I have ever owned. However, it does seem to require a very consistent hold. If you let the rifle move in the rest with each shot and don't make sure it is...
I have from 25-06 to 375 Ruger in LH bolt rifles. I'm headed toward a 270Win and a 338-06, both in a Forbes 24B. More about the platform than the cartridge.
I don't know if it will get you to 600 yards, but a Leupold 6x42 has about 4.5 inches of eye relief. Also had a Vortex 1.5-8 HD LH Razor that had a lot of eye relief. The 2-10 HD LH I have now seems to have plenty but its only on a lightweight 270Win.
Good luck,
Steve
I just bought one of these for $450 new/used on another forum. So far I agree with everything jberedt said. Had a 1.5-8 HD LH and like the view much better on this one. The $400 deal is long gone and the scope is still worth buying at $525, IMHO.
Good luck,
Steve
