    I was going to ask why Kimber isn't being considered... The Adirondack in particular comes in at less than 5lbs and $1,600. The Mountain Ascent and others from their lineup shouldn't be far off from that.

    Depends on your eyes and your application. If you can see irons and are proficient with them, a good set would be ideal IMO. WWG, Skinner, and XS all make good sights for the 1895. If you don't shoot well with irons and don't have an astigmatism, I'd go with a red dot. A good one mind you...

    For your purpose I'd also go with the TBAC Ultra, probably the 7 or 9. Second would be the Dead Air Sandman Titanium, third would be a toss-up between the SiCo Harvester or Griffin Sportsman.

    Slumberjack vs Eberlestock Budget Packs

    I love my Eberlestock X2 so much I've been considering an F1 to go with it. I own a few SJK items but no packs, and they seem to make a quality product also. I'd go with the Mainframe just because of my own experience with the X2, but honestly I don't think you can go wrong either way.
