Listening to the podcast about the 6.5 as long as your 7-08 is theades straight they say you can shoot it in the 6.5 OG, they just said check it first with a rod.
300wm I’d 💯 look for something with some sort of brake or port. My 300 prc sat the last 2 years until I just got that brake on the...
My buddy was just approved for his 6.5OG on Monday. Excited to go try it out, my boy is getting a Gen 2 T3x 6.5 prc for Christmas. Debating cutting it too 20” or getting him the 6.5 OG and leaving it at the factory 22” length. I’ll make the call once I have the chance to get to the range with him
I take back everything I said and agree with Q_Sertorius
Everything I have the barrels are 18-20” and in folding chassis’s. After my first season packing my Tbac7 around the woods on a 26” barrel and traditional stock I said I’d never do that again and chopped all my barrels down after that season
Wish it was easier to try them all, out of the 7 centerfire I have the 2 that aren’t ported or have a brake are the ones I use the least.
Suppression is obviously goal number one but being able to reduce recoil still is a big plus.
I really like my KGM R6.5’s on my 6.5 PRC’s those little ports...
Zoom range is also another thing that’s changed a lot as they’ve became more experienced and grown the last few years, their first year I had some 6-24 and that was too much on the low end hunting and finding animals but they loved it on the higher end at the range and once they’ve found...
When I read the title of this thread, I thought you were about to burn the entire forum down 🤣
I’ve got a 12 and 14 year old, and I’m still going back and forth on what I think is best for them. Between the two of them, they’ve killed over 25 big game animals in the last five years, using...
That’s what it’s all about! I have a 12 and 14 year old boy, this is the first time in 15 years I haven’t filled my deer tag and never even bought an elk tag this year.
I spent over 30 days hunting with my boys this fall though and it was one of the more memorable seasons we’ve had! Older boy...
Nothing better than getting your kids out! Gear for little ones that grow faster than weeds is so hard, I have no problem spending money on my kids but hard to justify stuff they grow out of before they wear it out, luckily I have 2 boys that are 2 years apart so I can extend the use out of them...
We had a few friends that still had some late season tags I asked Talen if he wanted to pick up a cow tag our go help friends with their late buck and bull hunts. He said we had plenty of meat and wanted to go help friends out so that’s how we finished off the year. We made a lot of new memories...
Little late posting but always enjoy sharing my season with fellow roksliders and about my kids hunting season. Draw odds didn’t treat us well at all this year, they only drew extra doe tags but we still made the best of it!
Antelope season went better this year than it has the last couple...
kid in the back has the kifaru mini keg, the one with a rack is the western edge, mini keg is harder to strap meat and heads to and all the straps where way to big, sold it.
This is a EXO EXS, waist belt and shoulder straps are slimmed down to fit the little guys better, good working load...
95% of my kids shooting is done standing or sitting off a tripod at the range and it’s paid off big time in the field. My 11 yr old pictured here has killed 4 deer now, 3 of them standing off the tripod and the 4th was a sitting position. With all tge available options I don’t see any reason to...
Rifle hunting was a lot more productive than archery season. Younger boy was able to get this nice buck yesterday, after he shot the does stood around a little too long and he decided to double up and notch his extra doe tag too
My boys love carrying packs and it’s never slowed them down, think they started around 4-5 years old carrying water and snacks now they are 11 and 13 and have both carried their fair share of meat in their packs, they’ve really enjoyed carrying their own stuff and when I’ve offered to carry...
Thank you! You couldn’t have described it any better and I 100% agree, both my boys have had diapers changed on the mountains and been carried all over, they’ve spent countless days and hours in antelope blinds and have spooked more antelope than they watched me shoot the first couple years...
Thank you!
Man the kids boots has been my biggest struggle with the kids, I’ve had them in cheap cabelas boots, then some women’s danners. Now they are starting to get into adult sizes I found some killer deals on super small crispi and lowas, boy hunted with the crispi’s for the first time...
As already mentioned I’d find a local gun smith and have your current barrel cut and threaded, I just had this tikka 6.5 prc cut down to 20” and re threaded for my boys, actually all my Tikka’s have been cut back and threaded, it was $125 to do it
