Moisture from breath/body, moisture from burning propane, and moisture from wet gear drying. Wood stoves dry out the air rather than adding moisture to it, while also getting much hotter if you need that. I sounds like your tent is well vented and your AO is already on the dry end of the...
IF you’re talking lots of winter camping rather than archery season (I got a little confused there) then I’d strongly consider the larger box stove. Even if you never cook on a flat stove, being able to make water from snow as a free byproduct of heating your shelter is a game changer IMO. In...
If you’re not looking for maximum heat, and not concerned about condensation then I would agree. But a wood stove serves as both a heater and a tent/clothes/gear dryer. Yes, a stove takes more effort and time, so it’s a value judgment on the part of the user. If late season car camping...
Thanks for the feedback. I’m a gear nut, but also on a tight budget. The 44mag looks as close to a well organized do-all as Kifaru has made in a long time. And I’m tall enough that 24” frame makes the most sense, which further supports my interest in the 44mag.
IF you didn’t have the 22mag already, would you still buy one, or does the 44mag compress down enough for day use on a continual basis? It looks like the bags are only 8oz difference, unless I wanted to use a taller/heavier frame with the 44 and shorter/lighter with the 22.
Thoughts please?
I use a canister stove and a Finum Brew Basket or MSR Mugmate. It brews very good coffee, weighs an ounce, lasts forever, and cleans up way easier than a french press.
If going ultra light, then an alcohol stove and Medaglia D'Oro.
Unfortunately Californians are quickly spreading to other western states. It’s my opinion that they’re doing this largely for financial gain (sell a shack in LA and buy a ranch in central Idaho), and they’ll bring their stupidity to clear-thinking states. They end up turning their new...
I think either cartridge loaded with heavy solids will be sufficient for Black Bear. A .357 loaded with 180gr flat nosed solids from an outfit like Underwood will win the penetration contest, but that’s not the whole equation.
Carry weight and more importantly accuracy under stress/speed...
It’s looks stupid on the surface, but is quite strategic. WE see the blatant attempts to stop/block hunting (and disrupt the balance of the food chain), and THEY do too. They just disguise it with language and “studies” so the emotional non-thinkers will rally behind them.
