Shot my son at 3yo with an airsoft gun. Big tears. Momma Bear was furious! Fair is fair let him shoot me as well, then the lesson began. I shot a watermelon with airsoft, then pelletgun, then .22, then my 9mm, got fresh watermelon and blew it up with my .454. Morel of the story was do...
Hahaha Yes I ventured out west for my first trip this past season and I assisted several people here and on a couple other sites in upgrading their gently used gear and I'm thankful for that. Didn't save me any money as my budget was my budget, but it did get me a lot more bang for my buck...
Get an air rifle that is pretty accurate I use a Ruger Targis .22. I can pop cans with out to a 100 yards if the wind is calm. But it will really help your shot cycle. I bring it with me to the range from time to time if I feel I am anticipating the trigger break.
Missed my largest still to date Florida Buck with my muzzeloader at 11 yards. No excuses! I was cranked up to 11! Followed it up an hour later with a raccoon kill at 116 yards. (F&G was trying to control the raccoons so if you killed a raccoon you could get a ride back to camp in the...
I do wish they packed down tighter. weight wise I don't have anything to compare to first hand. What is your puffy of choice if you don't mind me asking.
let me precendent this saying I'm a Florida boy that travels to cold weather. I got a Uncompahgre set for my first Colorado trip 2cd rifle this year. Thank goodness I did too. It was amazing how well it worked. I ran Icebreaker merino base, Fleece mid and an army gortex jacket pant...
Love my set warmth wise. I did manage to tear a small rip in them and they have matching tenacious tape for repairs and I am a amazed at how well the tape is holding up. As someone else stated don't go busting brush in them, but they are way to warm for me to do much moving around in them.
Good explanation Mt. I’ve not had the issues some of you have but I also don’t have the backcountry time in field most of you have. In the East where I spend Most if my time I’ve found boundaries to be really close to posted boundaries.
FL unpronounceables are awesome. I have a REI puffy top and between it and the FL top it is a very noticeable difference in the amount of warmth and wind blocking capabilities.
I've never done the Sambar hunt, but I have done the Whitetail hunt in January a bunch of times and will back for it again this Jan. I did go one year in October to scout and fish while I was already in N FL for another reason. Tons of Rattlesnakes bring your snakeboots. I've only seen a...
Outstanding thanks pm inbound. I just got back into the land of the civilized. Itching to head back out to less civilization already. You guys definitely make that a lot easier.
My primary use sharing is pins for Onx is safety. I solo hunt deep in the swamps of Florida a lot and general rule is few hundred yards from the check station I lose cell service. Before Onx I would print out a google map for my wife with this is where I will park this is where my stand...
Ran the 6.5 CM the last three years with 140g SSTs for Kentucky whitetail. 11 kills one went 30 yards that I shot at 22 yards. The rest were DRT. .270 with 150g SST was my favorite deer combo. The 6.5cm took its job. Way less recoil. And anchors whitetail very well. Longest...
Thanks I have some leather remnants on the way already for another project I am working on. I'll report back how I like it compared to the hanging strops I use now.
