Tipi vs Trekking pole style tent

I’d say biggest drawback of a tipi style is the slope of the walls. You can’t effectively use the space near the walls because slope isn’t very steep. I think the xmid makes more sense for a 1-2 person tent because there is more useable space (the large tipis are another story). If you are...

Xmid 1 or 2 mainly will be used for solo hunting

I have no experience with the 1p but the 2p has so much room it’s probably worth the small weight penalty. As others have said the main drawback is the tent has a pretty big footprint but I don’t think it’s a huge issue. We were able to sleep 3 people and gear pretty comfortably in the...

    Need help with ballistics question

I’ve never used swaro ballistics but hornady 4dof is free and would do it. I’m sure swaro would too. I think Bjorns post is a better idea though

    Need help with ballistics question

Can’t you just put your data in the ballistic app with the “zero” as your expected conditions at camp and then change the data as if you are at the home conditions and see where it says the bullet will hit at 100 yds? Not the way I would sight it in but that will give you the right data (on paper)

    Cheatgrass vs Mule Deer

This work is awesome to see, thank you for your efforts. I hunt a lot of Chukar so spend a bunch of time and cover a lot of miles in cheatgrass and almost never see deer. And each time a fire hits it’s only cheatgrass that grows back. While it won’t be great for the Chukar hunting, I’d love to...

    Shot Show 2024

Do you think this swaro release is related to the price drop on 42mm ELs this year? Maybe clearing out the EL inventory for a new bino to either take its place or as an SLC replacement? I could see them wanting to get the ELs out of the picture to push sales either towards the NL (for SV) or a...

    Nissan Titan PRO-4X

I just checked Fuelly.com and I don’t think you’ll be getting much fuel mileage improvement going to a Titan. 2014-2021 Titan avg ranges from 12.9 - 15.3 mpg and the Tundra avg ranges from 13.6 - 14.1 mpg. I think at best you are looking at 1 mpg improvement with similar driving and at worst a...

Durability of Leica CRF series rangefinders?

I’ve had the CRF 2400 for about three years now and no complaints. It’s worked flawlessly so far.

    Rings!

I have the Zeiss precision rings and don’t have any complaints. They seem to do the job.

    Money or Happiness

I left a job I loved to make nearly double at another company, and it was a tough adjustment that I doubted a lot and was not nearly as happy at. But for my situation the extra money made the rest of my life so much easier that I felt it was well worth it. Taking a massive pay cut to still put...

    Nissan Titan PRO-4X

If you want the titan then get it, they are great trucks and it seems like they have been pretty reliable from what I’ve seen online. Like others have said it’s being discontinued so there maybe less future support and resale will be significantly lower than a tundra so I’m not sure the cost...

If you were just starting out what pack would you buy?

I’ve been running a kuiu pack for 7 yrs now and it’s been great for me. I picked up a stone glacier two years ago after reading so many great reviews but it just did not work for me at all once I got about 50 lbs in it. It was terribly uncomfortable for me so I sold it. I will say I tried out...

Pack lid for kuiu 2300 pro

Agreed on kuiu’s accessory pouch. It’s a great option to add storage on the outside of the pack or more organization on the inside

    Christensen Rifles

I’ve heard the action complaint on CA, especially the Ti models. It took me running it a bit for to smooth out, but mine is just about as smooth as my tikka. Maybe I just got a good one but I have no complaints there. I do prefer the bolt lift and size of the bolt handle on the tikka (bolt...

    Christensen Rifles

I own a ridgeline in 6.5 PRC. Loved the way the rifle felt in the store but nearly didn’t get one because of negative reviews. The guys over at long range hunting love them (unlike rokslide which really doesn’t) which ultimately convinced me to get one. And I’m sure glad I did. It’s the most...

Copper bullet advice for .270 Win

I had been shooting 130 AccuBond from my tikka 270 but was having accuracy issues so I switched to federal trophy copper 130s. I’ve been very pleased so far. I’ve been getting around .75 MOA and took an antelope this year with great results. If you’re shooting factory ammo I think it’s worth a look.

    Labral Tear

I had a partial tear six years ago, and for months I couldn’t do much with it. I couldn’t throw or play any sports and had a lot of pain if my arm was extended to my side or over my head and any pressure was applied against my arm. I didn’t do archery back then but there’s no way I would have...
