Limbsaver AirTech butt stock upgrade over the plastic factory butt stock.
Next step the barrel gets shipped off to be chopped, threaded, polished, forcing cone lengthened and a lower mount for my Burris FF3 to replace the plastic factory pictanny mount
I was always in the “Hunt the Wind” camp.
Spent thousands of hours over the course of several years in the stand, utilizing milkweed to check my wind. Almost every time I had a mature buck pegged down with the intel from trail cameras, scouting etc.. without fail, around “closing time” the...
Patience. Patience. Patience.
You don’t have to be a phenomenal caller. Give him a couple “clucks” to let him know you’re there, gauge his interest and shut up.
I killed this bird here by sitting in a high traffic area one afternoon. Heard him gobble just above me and rather than calling...

Your setup speaks to me. I’m in the process of ditching my vest and going to some bino harness-based setup.
Possibly adding a fanny pack, but crawling with a fanny pack & bino harness is miserable.
Tell me more about that shotgun you have
I looked into loading TSS on my own but you’re absolutely correct. The price of TSS alone and how rarely I shoot TSS doesn’t even justify the investment to attempt it.
Well I ended up impulse bidding (and winning) a 12 gauge Charles Daly 101 on Gun Broker.
Figured for the price for a cerakoted, threaded and camo stock gun at $160 isn’t an awful price.
I wanted a .410 but they were all selling for $200+ so I saved about $60-80 but my shoulder on the other...
I’m looking at buying a Charles Daly 101 for a run & gun turkey shotgun. Showing sub 4.5# and overall length at 37” seems great to me.
I’ve never heard of Charles Daly shotguns- Are they decent?
Would a Stevens 301T be a better investment than a Charles Daly 101 ?
I currently own a Stevens...
My 20G 301 enjoys Federal & Apex 9’s through the factory choke
I would recommend a 410 or 20g 301 to anybody seeking a specific turkey gun. Affordable, lightweight, great trigger, compact and shoot TSS very well
TSS doesn’t seem to like super tight chokes like you’d find a lead counterpart favoring.
Sumtoy and Indian Creek seem to be “the best” turkey choke manufacturers. I’d research and reach out to either if you’re interested in trying TSS again.
I never was a TSS fan, until I misjudged a gobbler...
I was using the 6’s to check the zero on my red dot.
Didn’t trust the pattern, so I shot the TSS just to be sure.
Simply sharing my findings with y’all.
Haven’t shot XR’s through this gun, but XR’s through my 12’s haven’t put up the numbers like this 20 will with TSS.
I don’t think you’ll...
