    30-30 Copper ammo (Barnes) penciled through Whitetail Buck this morning...thoughts?

    Your bullet worked just fine and that projectile is designed specifically for 30-30 velocities. There is no way to predict how far a deer will run unless you damage their CNS.

    25-06 and Elk

    Worked for me. 110 Tipped Game Kings wrecked his vitals. Staggered maybe 10 feet from where he was shot to where he tipped over.

    KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

    Not much of a test. I watched her for about an hour waiting for a buck to show. Shot was about 100 yds and Hornady Black 168 AMax made a nasty exit. One of her lungs was hanging out of exit. She only went a few yards.

    In Wyoming I buy leftover private land tag and hunt via trespass fee. I also buy points. The low point units have become a shit show.

    I’ve tried most of the 25 cal bullets suitable for a 25-06. If I had to pick just one it would be the 115 Nosler BT. It’s shot well out of every 25-06 I’ve owned and the terminal performance is outstanding.

    They have some flex, but it seems rigid enough with the barrel channel liner in. Haven’t taken mine out yet. Everyone need to be realistic. This is a $300 plastic upgrade. If you are expecting carbon fiber / fiberglass weight and rigidity you will be disappointed.

    Got mine today, and put my Roughtek 308 in it. Put about 20 rounds thru it checking zero and getting a feel for it. Initial impression is it’s a very comfortable stock to get behind. I’m hoping to bloody it tomorrow.

    Why so many fat steel barrels and so few sporters?

    FWIW Bartlein sporter barrels run about 1size larger than everyone else. A Bartlein 3B is a Krieger or Brux #4. Learned that the hard way.

    10-14-24 Elk with my Apache Machine 25-06. 110 TGK did the job. He was quartering away and I him on the back edge of the shoulder. It wrecked his vitals before stopping under the offside hide. Quarter bore strikes again.
