Thats awesome. I could give you what intel i will gain from the week prior to your arrival if you're interested. My first time in NM also. Probably going solo as we drew 3rd rifle mule deer in CO.. plan to put boots to the ground during the day and find glassing points for first and last light...

Nah, i put in for the 2nd hunt as my buddies and i planned for Colorado 3rd rifle.. i didn't think I'd draw. I am concerned that it may be a difficult hunt as I'll be solo, full moon, and no knowledge of the area. I'll put boots to the ground every day, all day, though.

I vote for the Chugach set. I have had mine for a few years and I beat on it enough where I'm concerned but I cant find anything where I was expecting a new hole. There always seems to be a sale on it too, just keep your eyes open.

I would recommend the Kuiu axis pant for late season if you are into Kuiu at all. Quiet, water proof areas (seat and knees), multiple pockets, hip vents to dump heat, warm pants and silent. I shot my late season buck wearing the from a saddle in WI (1-29-23). I wear them to the stand and then...
Tweezers-Cactus sucks. Chapstick. Eye drops.
Last year i went and honestly had two vortex razor spotters in backseat. My 22-48x65mm that i used often and my buddies big 27-60x85mm that i didn't use. I drove around with my buddies viper 15x binos on a window mount and my viper 10x42s...
Might be hard with 1 point. I put in for random draw last year and drew unit 73 with no points. I think doe tags in 73 are a 50/50 draw odd. Unit 72 was 100%.
I hunted 113 in 2019 and we were tagged out opening day with the type 1 tag. I think that's getting some point creep but it was an...
Tripod worked well for last year but i had to wait until the lope cleared sage... 2 years ago i was off hand because sage was too tall. Tripod or something similar would be very beneficial
I have 3 bergara rifles. 2 b14s and 1 wilderness ridge. All shoot awesome but i did have to go through some factory loads to find what they like to eat. They cover mostly everything i hunt from southwestern Wisconsin to out west every year.
