    Which Rifle?

I’ve never tagged a Miley buck and am hoping this is the year. We’ll be in steep and deep territory so trying to decide which rifle to bring: Kimber 8400 7mm REM mag with Zeus’s V4 Conquest scope - super light, synthetic stock accurate; or Ruger 1 .257 Wthby mag Leup. Scope - weighs a lot more...

    Tagged His and Her Cows!

We, the man and I, both drew early cow. Yay! Bugling bulls everywhere helped us tag: me on day 3, 3.5 miles into Wilderness; man tagged on day 8, 4 miles in. Each was a 2 day pack out at nearly 10,000‘ so the physical was GREAT! Hard, but great. At issue: What to do with, or how to train a...

    Husband is a Champ!

I’ll try to male this concise. Husband got drawn for bull here in Nevada for Jarbidge Wilderness area - our favorite! He’s got antlerless in past, but this was his 1st ever bull tag. Needless to say he was excited! Set up camp at 9000’ but road to trailhead was gnarly. First day out, snowed...

Help Sighting in Zeiss Conquest on Kimber Mountain Ascent

Hey All, If anyone can shed some light on this I’d much appreciate it. Just got a new Kimber Mountain Ascent 7mm Rem Mag and trying to mount a new Zeiss Conquest V4 on it. Using correct medium height Talley scope rings and can’t get scope to align with where the bullet should hit. Just...

    Nevada Draw?

The spouse, the neighbor, the neighbors 2 adult sons, the folks at work... no one got drawn for diddly this year. Well, except me (here hee). I got bull last year, so won’t be eligible again for 7 years, but was lucky and drew Spike early, any legal weapon. But we don’t limit our applications...

    Got one. G

Since in Nevada there's a 7 year bull draw wait, and I'm 58, I figured this might be my one chance so I went all out. Up at 2:00 a.m., hit the trailhead by 4:30. Shot at 7:20 a.m. Took 3 days to pack out - 2 of us. 3.5 miles from trailhead. Great feeling.

    Congrats to All Who Harvested

I don't respond to every single first elk story or success story,, but just wanted to throw in a HUGE congrats to all those who worked hard and harvested a bull or cow and even to those who just dogged the mountains relentlessly, giving it their all but didn't fill freezers.

    Nevada Bulls in 73?

I've drew a Nevada Bull tag for 72-74. I know 74 well, having harvested 2 cows in past years from that area. I know 72 a bit - and that it's just plain ol' steep and harder. Anyone familiar wtith 73? Access looks way easier here. I'm 58, in decent shap - jog/hike with 25-30lb pack daily...

    Where Are the Elk?

Anyone out there with late season Nevada 072-075 tags? We've been hoofing the mountains since opening day when elk were still steep and deep in the Wilderness. Now we have plenty of snow up high so they should be moving into or towards winter ranges and we've seen nothing! Talked to other...
