Figured it would be good to wrap this story up. Managed to get a buck down on that tag, wasn’t either of the 2 bucks pictured, but he is heavier and wider than either one of those. I was super happy that my decision to pass the dropper didn’t come back to bite me too bad!
Well good news bad news story to wrap this one up.
Good news: I had my opportunity on the dropper buck
Bad news: I had a very short period of time to make a decision and elected to pass him. He had shed his velvet, and when he walked out in front of me, I hesitated because he looked so much...
Having seen him in person at 40 yards, that is correct. The picture of them together definitely doesn’t help him out, he gets bigger the more angles you see. The video I have makes that apparent
Looks like the responses are pretty much what I’m thinking. If I have to option to hunt 1 of the 2 it’s definitely going to be the dropper, but I’m not likely to pass a good shot on the trashy buck
I will say that without watching the video, it’s hard to see what the trashy buck really is. Having been at 40 yards twice on them, he definitely looks big up close just doesn’t have the frame of the drop time buck. Pretty good mass though
Spent opening weekend of archery chasing a couple of big bucks I found and thought I would do a fun poll.
The first is a big typical 4x4 with a drop-tine. His left side is huge, but his right side with the dropper is short forked.
The second is a medium sized buck with all sorts of stickers...
