shorter is better because it shucks the wind better. it isnt better if you pluck the string or torque the bow or otherwise mess up your shot and destabilize the arrow. big fletching helps the arrow correct itself. its all trade offs. ymmv
nice shooting. I use compressed straw bales from Tractor Supply. but mostly I use wood pellet bags. I double bag them and then stuff them full of other bags. We burn pellets so I always have a supply. Dog food bags work well too. Best thing is it's free so I don't really care how long it lasts. ymmv
I just fletched up an arrow with these the other day 5" x 3. I did need to pay attention to my nock rotation (needed to be the same as my feathers, so no issues there) but I can't tell a difference between the vanes and my feathers from the limited shooting I've done with them so far. so far so...
i just ordered some from 3 rivers. very curious to how they work on my set up. the sound of a feather scratching a jacket sleeve has given me trouble more than once. im guessing alot of the trouble people are having might be due to the extra weight of the vanes stiffing the dynamic spine of...
I still use one. it gives me a feel for the area, I don't really 'need it' but it gives me confidence. Its amazes me how wrong I am sometimes and in general I'm pretty good at estimating range. I usually just figure out where 20-25 yd is and I'm good to go for the spot I'm hunting.
Just shoot the hell out of it and learn what you like as said above. You can learn to shoot pretty much anything to typical trad hunting distances of 15-20 yd. Welcome to the addiction! this won't be your last bow
I just wrap the pack compression straps around riser. It works as good as any thing else. Trad bows aren't very good tied to packs no matter what you do though, IMO
I said I don't like the way it carries, but my buddy can pack out an elk with it and likes it. Point is it doesn't work for me but it may work for you. I'm tall and lanky my buddy is short and stocky. the pack itself is a well build pack that can carry all you'd want to carry, It just doesn't...
Bought new in August. Used for 5 days, excellent condition. It worked very well and we had rain and 20degree mornings. I'm just not a tarp tent guy.
