    Gun boxes

For pistols with their plastic box, and hard cardboard boxes for scopes, yes. But not usually for long guns as the box is just flimsy cardboard. I do keep the paperwork and owners manuals.

What to use for cracking, bleeding hands in the field.

Bring a 1 oz container of OKeefes on the next hunt. About a third of the size of the normal tube.

    Montana Summer Road Trip

The National Bison Range is worth a visit south of Flathead Lake and north of Missoula. You drive through it. Nice visitor center there too. There is an Alpine roller coaster on the west side of Flathead Lake that would kill a few hours. There is an actual amusement park between CDA and Sand...

eBay clothing smells- How to get rid of them?

Woolite and hand wash in a tub of cold water. Air dry, if possible outside in the sun.

    MT vs ND road trip

Couple things. Get a block management book and maps from MFWP. The information changes yearly with property and mapping so you want to be current. Call MFWP for the region you want to hunt and ask them which block management areas in their region have good bird hunting. I don't bird hunt...

    Long drive ebook suggestions

Recently listened to "Born Again Twice" by Dale Hanson. Vietnam SOG stuff into Laos. It was a very good personal account, and very well done for audio. "Saving Bravo" by Stephan Talty is really interesting as well. It's the entire Bat 21 incident and rescue, including the other pilots on the...

    Dash Cams

I've used the Viofo 129 for several years, front and back. Had an earlier model before that that lasted about 4 years. Image is great day and night, it's relatively inexpensive, and easy to download video off of mini SD card. My wife has a similar model but her saved video goes to her phone by...

Man kills mountain lion with a shovel in Colorado

Perhaps it was a military E-Tool shovel. They have been whacking people to death in battlefields across the globe since WW1.

    Miles City, MT

I stayed at the Miles City Hotel & Suites right off the interstate last year while on the way to South Dakota. It was a clean Hotel with very good service, and better than average breakfast food. Several restaurants in walking distance, as well as a few gas stations nearby. There is also sister...

    Cold Weather Upland Boot

I really like my Kenetreks, both uninsulated (summer) and 400g (winter). But everyone is different. My wife and I took a day trip to Bozeman so she could try both Kenetrek and Schnees. She really loved the Schnees and did not like the feel of the Kenetreks at all. Schnees is all she wears...

    Cold Weather Upland Boot

Kenetrek Mountain Guide 400s with their Canada OTC socks... and some gaiters. Between the boot insulation and thinner wool socks there is just enough warm air inside to keep my feet warm, but not sweaty. I use them for everything but the summer months. Years of bird hunting using that combo...

Snack bars, healthy eats on a hunt?

Bobo Bars, One, Kind, Rx, and Cliff Bars. Jerky, PB crackers, and trail mix. I buy Bobos anytime they are on sale. Calorie dense and no issues from weather temps. Great for road trips too.

    Ultra light hunting rifles

I have a Weatherby Mk5 Outfitter in .30-06. Very light as advertised and shoots sub-moa with any premium ammo. However, my wife has Tikka Superlite in 6.5 Creedmoor that is close in weight (a few ounces heavier), is just as accurate, and was half the cost of my Weatherby.

    Dog issue…

I use liverwurst or braunschweiger from the regular lunch meat section at the grocery store. Farmer John, John Morrell, or whatever brand that is in a soft tube, etc. It only costs a couple of bucks and lasts a long time in the fridge. Just scoop a few chunks out of the pack and roll them into...
