I use a small lightweight solar panel to charge my battery bank in the day at camp, and then charge my phone from the battery at night. Works for me. I could live without the solar panel if I limit my phone use more, but in Sept archery for elk there’s usually been sun to charge.
I was surprised to see some people skip bringing a fire starter. Then they struggle with fire. I’d have to set out as many traps, snares, gill net, fishing lines, etc. for passive food chances.
It’s a tough choice. If vacation days are limited, flying saves time… but renting a vehicle and trying to get meat home on a plane with all your gear is a consideration. If I had the time… I’d always prefer to drive but it costs me too many days.
