    308 is a great round, I will be making my first trip to Idaho this year . I bought a Tikka t3x in 30-06, would have gone with a 308 but I have tons of 30-06 components . Tikka shoots 5 shots under 1 inch. weighs 7lbs with scope. you will be very happy with the 308.
