    California Mule Deer

This year I drew my first Muley tag for my home state, and put together a nice backpack hunt with the help of my dad and best friend Ben. We went in a ways and after a couple days of seeing more bears than deer, I decided to kill this buck- the 3rd one we had turned up. I shot him twice behind...

    Cali Bear Down

Got my first this morning on a solo hunt in the Sierras. He was the third bear I saw on this trip and the first I was able to get a shot at. Put him down from 279 yards, followed by some photos, skinning, quartering, and a couple mile pack out.

    Photo Display Ideas?

Anyone have any suggestions or examples of nice ways to display photos in a trophy room? I'd like to display an 8x10 photo of each of my bucks/elk/etc. The initial idea is to get an 8x10 matted wood frame for each one and cover a whole wall, but there's gotta be some more intriguing...

    2013 Archery Blacktail

With not a lot of time left to hunt this year I finally let the string down on one. Not a big buck but what the hell... it was a fun hunt and it's always nice to redden some fletching. 55 yard steep uphill shot as he had his nose between a does legs.

    Girlfriend's First Bird Down- Archery!

Very proud to show you guys Kristin's CA opening day gobbler. She made a great 18 yard quartering away shot on him, he didn't make it 30 yards before being down for the count. Shot with a 75 grain 3 blade Muzzy. Not only was this her first turkey, but also her first archery kill. It was awesome...

    DIY Tarptent weight?

I've got a pretty nice 2 person taptent coming along, just need to design a door and make a few modifications on it. I'm curious what you all would consider "ultralight" as far as weight goes NOT including stakes? Here she is so far- I can post pics as I make changes in anyone is interested.

    Vortex Summit SS Tripod Video

Some of you asked about the little tripod in my other video so we whipped this up today. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf6Dyfwlkmo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf6Dyfwlkmo

Vortex Razor HD 50 vs Nikon ED50 vs Minox MD50

Yesterdays long outdoor video didn't turn out and I know you guys wanted something, so I winged it and threw this together this morning. I left a number of things out, but let me know if you'd like to see anything else that I didn't touch on here. I'll get something else up that shows the...

Piggy back from the "hunting partner" thread...

Didn't want to hijack the other thread with pics, so why not start a new one? A lot of guys talked about their dads or other family members as the ones who got them started in the field. It would be cool to see some old pics. Post em up. Here are a few of my dad and I when I was first able to...

    Looking for Kryptek Cerdic Hoodie!

Anyone know where these are still selling? I need one in size Large to complete my Mountain Mimicry ensamble. Cabelas just has XL and up... for a great price though. I just picked up a Kryptek Vidar vest in Highlander, excellent quality.

    Here's a big Tule bull

Took a ride out to the coast yesterday and came across this monster bull Tule Elk, a trophy that very few people ever get the opportunity to hunt. Just thought I would share.

Hard Work Leads to a 30 incher!

I'll let the pics tell most of the story. The hunt included BenHuntin from this forum, my Dad, and myself. Ben and my dad killed on day 2, a 25" 4x4 and a 21" 3x3. I'll get my dad's pics when he emails them to me. I found an awesome (by my standards) buck on evening 4, he's 30" wide with great...

10x42's on a Tripod... Who Does It?

I took a quick 2 day hunt this weekend, and found myself glassing some long distances. I've never really tried using my binos on the tripod, but I ended up messing around with holding my Swaros down tight on my tripod head for looking at the far slopes. I can definitely see how a good set of...

    N. CA Blackbear Hints?

Hey guys. I'm probably going to hit MNF for a solo backpack bear hunt this weekend. Never archery hunted bears though, and I'm curious if any of you could fill me in on what elevations and foliage types I should focus on? Naturally I was going to hunt way up high (6,000+ ft.), but I figured I'd...

    Kodiak Island Non-Res Archery Hunts

I know a few of you have made this trip. I've heard it's actually pretty reasonable. What should a DIY guy expect to spend for this trip from start to finish, if 3 of us were to go?

Another Tenzing Question... 5000 or 6000?

I'm kinda over my Sitka 45 after a few seasons with it. Although I like the compactness, at the same time I find myself running out of room for packing meat and equipment before my weight threshold is reached. I'm really liking the looks of the Tenzing packs, as they seem to provide a lot more...

    Opener Buck Down

Wow, what a hunt! Began spotting nice bucks waaaaay up in this high country with no roads to it at daylight, including an awesome 140 class 4x4. Possibly the biggest 4x4 Blacktail I've seen on the hoof. Since no roads had been fixed following the winter damage, I loaded up my pack with 2 days...

    Broadhead Sharpness

So I'm sitting here watching the Giants game and sharpening up a bunch of my broadhead blades that killed throughout the past year. Some of them are a little beat up and tough to get "scary" sharp. But, they are still as sharp as some heads come from the factory (which may not be saying much)...

Leica Ultravid 10x42 Greenies vs. ...

Anyone have any opinions on how these stack up against the Swarovski SLC NEU's? There's a pair for a good deal on MM and I could sell my Swaro's for close to what the guy wants for the Ultravids. Would this be a legit upgrade? Or am I just being stupid for even considering the idea of swapping?

    Low Carb, High Calorie???

So I've been training pretty hard with both cardio and weight training, and eating clean has made a world of difference. I've dropped from mid-170's to a leaner and "bigger" looking 159-161. Now that I've got my body fat down to where I want it, I'm having a hard time building up my muscle. I've...
