Oh boy. I kicked the hornets nest here. I hope it hasn't been conceived that I am arguing that the scopes in fact failed and it wasn't an issue elsewhere. I will begin trouble shooting other avenues before sending it back because maybe there is an issue I am not seeing or maybe something I...
Scope is mounted with Hawkins rings that were decreased and torqued to 20 or 22lbs i can't remember. Box said 18 I think and that has proven inadequate in the past. Rail is a Nightforce that is JB Welded to the action and torqued to 65lbs. I just went through everything, it was all tight. One...
Hmmm. I'll have to go kick my rifle around and see what happens i guess. I did change stocks from an HS Precision to a Pure Precision to save 2lbs which is the only thing I can think of that would have made a difference. The action is tightly bedded so idk where else the movement would come...
We're all competent at mounting a scope if that's what you're asking. Rifle
While I can't speak to how theirs were mounted my trijicon was torqued to spec and I even gave it the paint pen treatment which was a change from my usual loctite routine. I went over everything both times and there...
My trijicon tenmile lost zero twice this year during a week of bouncing around in a side by side to and from our hunting area. To it's credit it fared better than my 2 hunting buddies whom both had NXSs on their rifles. Mine was about a 1/3 mil off both times, theirs were both off by at least 2"...
I'd love to see something new from Nightforce. Like, better reticles, and an improved NX8 with a better eye box for starters. Eventually these other scope manufacturers are going to catch on to more consistent zero retention and they are going to lose big.
Here's my addition to the meat pole. The herd circled below me and I had to sneak in to 50 yards before I had a shot. I meant to shoot a 5 point in the herd and this goofy spike got in the way.
I might get some new brass and see if that helps but I cross posted this on Accurate shooter and I was also able to dig up the thread on Snipers Hide and all signs point to it is essentially barrel cancer. It's still shooting well, but not the benchrest level accuracy i was getting (this rifle...
I noticed in the last few months that my 6mm BR was no longer living up to the accuracy it once held that was on par with the reputation of the cartridge. It is a varmint rifle and gun has about 1200 rounds down the tube which I know isn't much for this round, which is why I have one. I couldn't...
YES. That is my second favorite part. In my Tikka CTR it shot better than the handloads I tested. I actually quit half way though load dev because it shoots so well.
Look up single use pour over filters on Amazon. I love good coffee and this a way to get it in the backcountry and not have to give money to Starbucks. Just dump the grounds out when you're done and throw them in the trash.
