Lawnboi! I've never read a better summary of the entire situation and thank you for reminding me/us that they did cut back on the doe tags, at least there's that. Thank you, great post.
SPOT ON!!!! I wish they would do this, no clue why they didn't years ago. It's insane but has to be about the money for hotels, etc..
OP, hope you do what you want to do, everything's a tradeoff. I would guess Montana's as good as anywhere out West to hunt for a deer.
"Getting away from...
Never.
IMHO if you enjoy hunting and being outside, change what you're doing and how you're doing it. Since OnX all "my" (they were never mine) spots are ruined, crawling with people who deserve and are glad to be there.
I have to hunt differently, go farther back, change expectations and...
I did fishorhunt.com in Thorne Bay and was way cheaper than $1K/day for the boat, cabin, truck and canoe plus piles of fishing gear, etc.. Highly recommended, IMHO the value for money was well worth it, though it has been many years since I went there, plus POW Island is a draw now for black...
Welcome and HUGE respect putting down-draft Webers on a Ford engine! Damn....
That is a beautiful Mustang! Our family kept my grandmother's '65 until rusted chunks were dropping off of it every bump.
Hunting and classic car welcome to Rokslide!
Outstanding looking fallow deer! I've never shot one, just looked at pics, and yours appears to have a ton of character. Sounds like the first half was a great trip, second half not as great, but thanks for sharing. Would love to do that type of hunt some day.
Thanks for sharing another great story, AKDoc. Very encouraging and motivational for the most important things in life, with a bonus to tag a nice bull. Looking forward to the next installments!
An old German combination gun that someone mostly restored in the 90s, at least that's what I was told. Fun to use when there might be huns or sharpies while chasing antelope - but I didn't see a single one in two days!
C'mon, man! Isn't boat-tweaking what happens when someone's not fishing? Half the fun.
This is an awesome thread, great build and very motivational. Thanks for bringing us along.
Can you show how you clamped and bolted the outboard? I'm only an occasional user of a Kaboat with an outboard...
(old man sarcastically screams at the sky) I just wish they could make their logo much larger and put the word "Kuiu" in 20 more places.
Agree kpk - "wasn't a lot of innovation going on". very cringy.
Still, I love Kuiu gear and the price is right. Might have to get one.
