    General Purpose Rifle... Bolt or AR?

    Ar-10 platform will generally be quite heavy unless you are willing to spend coin for lighter weight upper/lower.handguard sets and carbon wrapped barrels. Inherently heavy by design. I've owned quite a few AR-10s.. they have their uses...but general purpose it what I'd roll.

    I can +1 on Sawyers Permethrin. Follow instrcutions on box/can and it will kill on contact. Otherwise I always spray with 40% deet whereever I go to keep them from attaching.

    best caliber for coyotes?

    I day and night hunt with thermals all over Missouri and I have not found a need to go beyond using 223/5.56 with 55gr polymer tip or hollow point. Taking proper shots under 200 yards with a decent shot will generally do the trick.
