    West Texas Free Range Elk Hunt

    If I go back to W TX, it's for a Simitar Oryx. I heard they taste better than Elk. Although my Gems Oryx tasted similar to Elk, but it's hard to compare a bull to a cow. Elk hunts are sure pricey. I'd rather keep putting in for the NM draw.

    I noticed similar. I have 8-9 doe's that are somewhat comfortable on my lawn. If I didn't have camera's, I'd think there are no bucks. During the rut, like now, I have more & more bucks. But they will vanish in another month.

    Me too. TTSX on Elk. 4 loads into the lungs.. Perfect boiler room shots, until he dropped. But I can't find anything as accurate as TTSX.

    I own property, so I have stands set up in various places. After a few doe took a dirt nap, the remaining deer have learned to avoid my stands. Literally, not 1 deer will come near my stands now. They also know my black truck. If they see my truck coming, they just run. Any other truck...

    My 1st deer was a .243, Federal blue ammo. It's the cheapest ammo available. The exit hole was a golf ball size. Bang Flop.

    I had a high hit. 0 blood. The blood went into the lungs, not outwards. I just got lucky that I stumbled across the animal 50 yards away.

    Not sure I would eat anything from an infected animal. Infections in meat must travel in their bloodstream to organs, etc.

    Was the area of the old broad head infected ? Not so sure I would eat the meat in that area... They are tough animals...
