I would never look down on someone on their gear choices. I have to use fixed blade heads since I'm from WA state. I use the 125grain Slick Trick Magnums. I even use them when hunting in states where mechs are legal. I did use swhackers one year on deer and they worked fine and I would be...
Salerno huh? Theres definately worse places to be. To the original poster I have. Kelty Lightyear 15 degree bag that weighs 2.5 lbs. Their long version is I think 3lbs and you can get it for less than $180. It compacts down to the size of a water bottle. Highly recommend it. DONT buy the...
All things being equal a narrower diameter shaft will penetrate better than a thicker shaft. For this reason I have shot the Easton Axis. Tough as nails and fly like darts. However I have started looking at Victory Archerys "VAP" (Victory Armor Piercing) line. They have an even narrower shaft...
All the Vector Turbo is, is a Vector 35 but with a 6" BH. I really wish they would make a VT in a 32" ATA model for us shorter guys. Plus it would then have an IBO of 345 fps. Again so us guys with T-Rex arms can shoot a little bit faster. I really love my Alpha Max 32 and it'll be hard to let...
Okay so its time to refletch my arrows and I am out of fletchings. I currently use 2" Boehning Blazer canes. But.... Part of the fun of archery for me is trying different things. I am willing to try anything. So my question is before I buy either the quickspins or the twister vanes does anywone...
I hear you on that. I definately don't have the time or money to test this stuff out. It would be a lot of fun though. I just use the online calculators figure out the best setup and go from there. Ensure my FOC and spine is good and call it good from there. I'm not hunting elephants.
Bucksnort I guess when you put it that way I can see your point especially at ranges less than 100meters. Beyond that I think the smaller pill starts losing energy too fast. I know the NATO 5.56 starts running out of steam pretty quick past 300meters although it is still more than capable of...
Again I disagree. It has been my experience that a 7.62mm will out penetrate the higher velocity 5.56mm bullet all day long. Whether the target is a stone and mason building, a car door, engine blocks, soft tissue, wood, you name it. There is NOTHING that the heavier slower 7.62mm did not out...
Yeah I saw that to. I am a huge Slick Trick fan, but after seeing that test and after hearing that the Black Ops Shuttle T is sharper than the original it is really got me thinking about change. Plus I am cursed with the tinkering bug and can't let things be. I always have to change things up. I...
There is a huge thread on archery talk where a guy has tested a ton of broadheads and so far the Ulmer Edge is the only one to blow through the test medium. Best penetration so far out of like 30 heads.
I disagree. I've shot at and through a lot of buildings etc and I can tell you that a 7.62mm round penetrates much further through brick, mortar, metal and man dress than a 5.56mm round does.
I have heard that they are the sharpest head on the market. But unless someone gives me some free ones I won't switch from Slick Tricks. I have also heard most G5 Montec guys who try the VPA never go back.
I will be chasing Whitetails in Northern New York with the bow on Ft. Drum. Already got some trail cans out and some new spots picked out to hang some stands amongst some oaks. Also in the back of the house will set up a ground blind on an alfalfa field. Can't wait to Swhack some deer.
Oh yeah I agree. As soon as they come out with a 125 grain Ulmer Edge they will be in my quiver. That thing looks great. Especially if the rumors are true about them coming out with a steal ferrule. Do you know the blade thickness of the Ulmer Edge?
As far as fixed blade goes no problem there...
Any updates or reviews on the ulmer heads yet. Looking at getting these for my wife for whitetails. She is shooting a 355 grain arrow at 235 fps so about 44 KE. Hoping to bump up to 50lbs of draw so same arrow except 245 fps and 47lbs of KE. Is this enough to push this arrow? It has the same...
Well thankyou. I really love my job. Next week I get to fly in an airshow in Northern New York. I have always dreamed of doing this. My name is also Aaron. So having that name must mean having a cool job. :)
