I’ve experienced similar in my 6arc build at the beginning. Ended up having to return the ASC mags to midway. Duramags have worked great though.
The shape of the case tends to exacerbate getting caught on the feed ramp as well
Since you said you’re not an AR guy, how are you charging the rifle? I’d wet the bolt with oil first, then make sure you’re allowing the charging handle to come all the way to the rear and let it go. If you hold onto the charging handle while it’s closing you could cause this issue. I’d also try...
Just adding some data points.
Dad's rifle tikka 22-250 handloaded 88gr ELDs @3050fps. Shot ~50yards straight on. Buck made it about 50 yards away in a dead run. Bullet didn't exit and no obvious blood trail. Poor picture but shoulder was destroyed.
Mine: AAC 77gr TMK from a 16" tikka at ~50...
Seems like with your requirements you’d be better off with a 7mm-08 if your heart is really set on 7mm. Hand loading really opens up a lot of opportunities for that cartridge, and you still have good factory ammo options.
But I’m with Researchinstuff, the 6 CM is really the better option.
If the AAC ammo is competitive with 300blk prices I get the feeling this will do pretty decent. 9mm cans have gotten pretty popular/durable to handle the 350 legend and can cross over to this.
I have the same dilemma but with 22 creed in the mix.
I’d probably use the 123 or 130s if I was going for velocity and a bullet I’d hunt with. ELD-vt for paper and steel.
The 223 CTR magazines are lackluster from my sample of one. You can modify the bottom metal to accept aics mags which I've had mixed success with. I need to order a waters ctr 223 mag to try that as well
I guess that would be my question as well, especially for something like a 22 creed. I get if it's only used for hunting that would take a while, but with a setup like that it would be too fun to shoot all the time.
Absolutely. Well that and PSA is listed as a manufacturer on board. Most don't have a need for either cartridge, but some $300 PSA upper specials will get a lot of people invested.
That's the thing, there's not really such a thing as something designed for short barrels or not. This was commonly stated by the 300blk crowd, but longer barrels produce more velocity and most powders are burned in the first couple inches of barrel regardless of caliber/cartridge.
One of the...
I’ve put an adjustable block on one and turned it off in 350 legend. The extraction was stiff until the chamber got lubricated, just stuck a little oil on a case before shooting
I just bought my son a compact 223 tikka. Will likely get the barrel fluted when it’s cutting cut down for a can. If I lived in a state that had a 6mm minimum I’d probably still get a tikka and outfit is as a 6 ARC. The howa mini in 6 arc would be heavily considered as well.
He's got to hype the market somehow, Otherwise I don't believe 8.6blk would exist and 300blk certainly wouldn't be where it's at today.
I drank the 300blk koolaid for a bit and this forum helped me see the light. It just amazes me that so many people are buying into the 8.6 crap. It's not...
"Why 338 ARC sucks"
Listening the Kevin cry and moan about this new release is the best part.
I think Q makes some innovative products, but his claims are a bit much.
They haven't released a BC on them yet from what I can see, but it would be neat to get some extra range out of a scoped carbine every once and a while with them.
