Oregon Archery Elk & Fall Equinox

Why has Oregon historically opened up so early for archery elk? I understand there are 4 estrus cycles, but I also believe that the Fall Equinox is proven science where the breeding period aligns close to this date. I understand the reasoning behind hunting the week before the Equinox, but...

Kifaru Frame with HPG Decker Pocket

Curious if anyone has attached the HPG Decker Pocket to a Kifaru frame? I'm wanting to know if it's compatible. It looks similar to the Stryker but I think the Decker pocket may be a bit bigger and lighter. Thoughts?

    Ticks... Overreaction?

So I went on a hike after work on Friday afternoon. On Saturday evening I found a tick lodged in my back. I was able to carefully remove it and followed up with the doctor today to take a dose of antibiotics as a precaution against Lyme disease. I know spring is always worse than summer with...

    Tuning Broadheads: no rest adjustment?

My son has a QAD rest that isn’t adjustable. How do I tune his broadhead if it’s hitting below his field points? I’m assuming I have to adjust his string loop but I am not sure how? Thanks for the help.

For those that have a Kenai Chest holster... Light Question: Can you run just your gun without the light or do you need to have the light attached for proper retention? I asked the company but have not received a reply. Kenai Alternative: The GS Holsters look very similar for quite a bit...

    Rangefinder for Youth archery hunter

    FOC benefit, Short DL

Question for you guys... Can a short draw length benefit from a heavier arrow or FOC? I have a 26” draw length. I have been successful bow hunting last 3 years with Easton axis 400g and 100g trocars. Bow is dialed. I shoot all the time. I’ve always had good shots. But every shot has gone...

Kifaru: hot spots in lumbar area?

So I have a hunter frame that was purchased about two years ago. The model after the traditional duplex but not the newest model. I packed out a quartered deer this last weekend along with camp gear. Total weight was about 115. Nothing crazy, but still heavy. For the last two years, and this...

Speeding up a bow & Pin Adjustment

My bow is set at about 63#’s. 27.5” draw. Field points and broadheads grouping nicely out to 80 yards. (I don’t shoot past that for now). Using a SH 5 pin slider. If I increased my poundage, I assume I would be grouping high, but would a simple adjustment of my slider bring all pins back into...

    Hog Hunting - Maui

I am taking a vacation to Maui this summer and looking into the possibility of a 1-day archery pig hunt. Anybody have thoughts on the best way to do this? I assume I have to go with a paid outfitter? Are these pigs good to eat? I'd like to bring home the bacon! It would be even more fun to tag...

    Woobie Question....

If my woobie periodically gets wet -- like say I use it as an umbrella or emergency shelter cover in a driving rainstorm, will the future performance be affected? Is there a specific drying out process that I should follow? Is there ever a time that you would treat the outer layer with Niki or...

    Shooting w/out a stabilizer

Any of you hunt without a stabilizer? Is there ever a time that shooting without a stabilizer is an advantage? I have shot a bunch with and without and I dont notice a meaningful difference even in windy conditions. Could the weight of my sight (Spot Hogg) be enough to stabilize the bow?

    Hudson Tipi (Jimmy Tarp)

I saw some pretty cool pictures online of Jimmy Tarp's new "Hudson Tipi". Looks very nice and spacious...almost 10x10, similar to the Tut 4 man, but shorter in height. Still looks tall enough for a chair. Less than 2lbs. Look like a great solo shelter and looks big enough for two guys and a...

StratoSpire 1 or 2 vs. LBO: Reviews?

For guys that have the StratoSpire 1 or 2 or the LBO Looking to get either the Stratospire 1 or 2 (there isn't much of a weight penalty to go to the two and the size is much bigger). The shell can be used as a stand alone shelter on bivy hunts and can add the inner nest in bad weather...
