I'm contemplating the idea of using a bipod this year in the backcountry. Are they worth the weight? My current bipod is 11oz but i think i could shave some weight by removing a lot of extra unneeded metal.
I moved to Alaska 10 years ago and my first rifle was a vanguard 300 Wby. Ammo prices are much better now than they were 10 years ago. Barnes makes some great factory ammo and is about half the price of Weatherby ammo. Anyways I love the 300 Weatherby. I've killed Sheep, Brown Bear, Caribou, and...
I really like my mountain extremes but that didn't come without a lot of issues. Ive had to send them in to have the heel pockets stretched due to tearing my heals off and a busted eyelet. If I could do it all over again I'd prob go with Lowa.
Thanks for the input, i would agree that I'd have to dig to find some poor reviews of the Tikka. As for Kimber I've gotten a lot of mixed reviews. Some say they are lights out but others say they wasted money. From what I've seen the newer Kimber rifles don't have the same issues, other than...

Just ran across a good deal on a Montana in .270. Anyone have experience with this pairing? In looking at the Kimber website they no longer offer the Montana in .270.

I'm on the hunt for a lighter weight mountain rifle rather than lugging my 9lb 7mm around the Mountains. I know the 25-06 is a lighter round for some unexpected guests in the mountains but every time I read into its performance it's hard not to fall in love! Any one have any experience using one...
Backcountry hunting in Alaska, I don't leave home without one. Light weight tents don't always provide a lot of vestibule space so having a pack cover to leave pack outside in whatever elements get thrown at me is essential. I know a lot of guys who don't use them and to each their own, but for...
