    DIY game bag material

Just an update for those following this thread. I was able to load up a 1.8 oz airwave large bag with 250lbs of wet sand and hang it for a week. No issues with the bag or material.

    DIY game bag material

I cant attest to long term durability, having only made some last fall. I’m going to torture test a set here to see what the breaking point is.

    DIY game bag material

You have to be more clear on this question. The fabric is rated to 400lbs, so the stitching will be the weakest part of the bag. Personally I don’t like more than 80lbs in a bag for load carry, so for game like moose I pack 6-8bags.

This water bottle holder material was similar to Codura 500 and I have made projects with Codura 1000 on this machine. Along with 5mm neoprene as well. It handles the straight material fine. When you are using the material plus webbing best to hand turn the machine through the stitches to make...

I just took a 3/4 buckle (duraflex i believe) and sniped the one side so hang on the loop attachment with a pair of side cutters, then cleaned it up with a dremel so there was no sharp edges.

Stone Glacier Chilkoot 15 degree sleeping bag

I did a 14 day October stone sheep hunt in Northern BC using the 15 chilkoot. It’s an amazing bag! I am typically a cold sleeper, night time temps ran typically 30-15F and I was sweating in this bag most nights. And moisture or condensation from my wet clothes would push through the bag and be...

Burris Veracity 2-10x42 vs Nightforce SHV 3-10X42

Looking for opinions on these two scopes. Currently looking for a scope to put on a 300 win mag and have narrowed it down to these two scopes. It currently wears a Leupold 6x42, but I want something with the option of lowering the power for up close shots, and a reliable dialing ability for the...

New to me Swarovski ATS 65 with no lens covers, what to do?

I don’t know if anyone has covered this, but last year I misplaced my Ats65 lens cap. I needed a replacement asap. After a bit of research I found that these generic camera caps work, as long as you get the right internal size. Two caps for $10, worth it until swaro sent a replacement. Now I...

    Bushpilot’s MYOG thread

I have been busy at work and have not been spending much time at the sewing machine. But on a different note my latest project was a set of custom propellor ties and exhaust port covers for my work airplane. (This turbine is free-turbine shaft, so the propellor can just windmill when off, and...

I made the water bottle pocket to go over the whole waist belt. It then attaches back on the pocket by sliding it through a webbing keeper and velcro if to the side. Lots of interest in this project so I will do a build along one of these days.

I got the silicon fibreglass 12”x36” sheet from lite outdoors. So I have enough to make 3 stove jacks. Just sew on the velcro and silnylon and you are cooking

    Bushpilot’s MYOG thread

Been a minute but I have been slowly putting together this pyramid hot tent the last couple of weeks. It came together quite well, only will need a few minor adjustments for the next one. It weighs 2.5lbs with stakes and carbon fiber pole, 5.5lbs with my lite outdoors stove. Base is 9’x9’ and 6’...

    Bushpilot’s MYOG thread

Sorry for the late reply on this one, been Mia for a while bear hunting. I’m just using a singer 4452 home machine. Looking at upgrading to a couple of industrial machines here shortly. No tutorial for the water bottle holder. But I’m going to make another so I can do a build along for that.

Mountainsmith Mountain Shelter LT - install stovejack?

Not yet, didn’t end up using it on my bear hunt last week as it was too hot for a stove. Next weekend I may get it out for my next trip.

280 ai vs 300 win mag

This old bear was down within 20 yards from a 168 Berger VLD out of my 280ai. 400 yard shot, pass through with good expansion and lethality. This kinda thick country all shots were either less than 50 or 350 plus. I picked up a 300 win mag to play with in the fall as well. But so far the 280ai...

    Timber Rifle for Elk...what one?

If you goal is bullet weights are 200-225 I wouldn’t go for a 30-06. 300 magnums or 338 win mag are good platform for that projectile. My 338 win mag spits out 250gr bullets for the big critters in the bush. Mind you I almost always am carrying my Kimber 280ai loaded with monometals when chasing...
