I got 4 llamas last fall and had the same concerns. I have heard and read that predators unfamiliarity with llamas scent, appearance, and alarm call, spooks the predators and, while curious, they keep their distance before spooking and leaving the area.
We used them last August for Caribou. They run a top-notch operation; we came away very impressed. Communication was great and even when the weather threw a wrench in things, they worked their tails off to make sure everyone was taken care of and into the field as quickly as possible.
