300 wsm 200 grain ELDx.
Through both shoulders of a good sized mule deer. Pencil entrance and 2ish inch exit.
Lost some meat, but no worse a nosler partition with the same shot.
Factory loaded 200 grain ELDx in 300 wsm.
Elk quartering away at 150 yards. Caliber sized entrance, wrecked vitals, through lower end of offside scapula. Stoppped just short of the hide. Elk was down in 5 seconds.
Lost a little meat in the shoulder, but probably no more than any lead bullet...
Just looking for some programs that you thought worked well for you.
6 to 12 week programs, bulking, powerlifting, or general strength training; what would you suggest?
The 185 Berger in 2 antelope and 3 deer all gave me a pencil entrance, started upsetting roughly half way through, and a fist sized exit. Exit was very ragged like many small pieces exited.
Animal usually ran 75-100 yards before falling, all lung shots.
Was working up a 208 elem load, but with...
That makes sense. So the high bc design accidentally created some pretty bad ass hunting bullets. More or less.
Didn’t think about it like that since I heard the original ballistic tip had a reputation for shallow wound channels.
Using the eld M this fall, so trying to see for myself, but trying to understand the difference between some match bullets and early hunting bullets in terminal performance.
Does a thicker jacket at the nose or the empty jacketed space in the nose (Berger) allow the bullet to penetrate before...
Seems some people hate same topic discussions with different people.
I like these conversations. There are less than 5 people in my life that care enough about terminal performance to have these conversations.
These posts are fun, nothing wrong with discussing bullets. Even if it’s being...
I think the only thing you would gain is less recoil. 30-06 will kill at a pretty good distance too, with good bullet selection.
Go kill chit with the 30-06 and build something else in 3-4 years if your not happy
It’s a struggle switching to the new trends with the match bullets for hunting. I grew up with mostly fuddlore so I’m a big 30 fan.
Can’t argue with all the pics/stories of dead game and devastating wound channels with 223’s - 6.5’s with the right bullets.
I still prefer heavy accubonds around...
As a flat lander, I get extremely pumped for any chance to hike the mountains with a rifle in hand.
Does bum me out a little that I have to try a new unit this year.
