I used 5oz and it’s worked well for me. I’d say when new it was a solid 20 degree quilt for me, but I’ve taken it much colder than that by adding clothes and puffy layers. It’s not as warm now as it was when new, but that’s to be expected with any synthetic with 5+ years of hard use.
For the past few years I’ve been using a steripen, but this year I started mixing in using aquamira instead on certain hunts. Not sure I’m ready to quit using the steripen all together, but going forward I see myself using aquamira more often than not on anything where I’m backpacking in for...
I’ve had mine since 2017 and it’s still going strong. Sterilized hundreds of gallons with no issues at all. I do carry tablets as a backup and occasionally use them if I fill my bigger bladder for camp water.
That’s exactly what my thoughts were. OTC in October for a couple weeks then a controlled hunt during the rut. I can’t see it doing anything but help with crowding statewide by spreading out the general hunting pressure, but it would still allow an awesome rut hunting experience with fewer...
I’d like to see some controlled hunts go to general hunts and change 2 point only hunts to any buck. I think doing this would move some hunters around and reduce pressure while potentially helping with perceived hunter crowding. I doubt it’ll help with people complaining about crowding though...
Shot a small bull last year with my 6.5prc and 147 eldm’s at 60 yards. Took about 3 steps and tipped over. Here’s the bullet that was sitting against the hide on the opposite side.
OR Ferrosi's are my favorite warm weather pant I've used by a long shot. Very breathable and dry quickly. I've been surprised by the durability I've gotten from them especially in the brushy and deadfall filled country I find myself in most often. I will say I'm not sure how much of this...
I painted epoxy on, put the carbon fiber on, added a little more epoxy, and worked it into the carbon the best I could. I did this twice so I have two layers of carbon fiber. Next I sanded it a little and put on one final coat of epoxy to smooth things out before painting it. I’m sure it...
I think these two have a much bigger impact on archery success than advancing technologies. Not saying tech has had no impact, but I simply believe the amount of information on elk hunting easily available online and spending more days afield have the biggest impact on success rates.
Yup that is definitely simpler I didn’t realize you were talking about a unit with onboard weather info and ballistic calculations. I thought you were talking about manually entering environmental conditions into a ballistic calculator. I’ll end up getting a unit like that when I have the money...
I’ve been using density altitude (DA) instead of pressure for the last year or so in the shooter app and it’s way simpler. All you need is temperature, elevation, and an DA chart and you’re good to go.
