As I said before, as long as we do what the law requires of us- anything else is personal discretion
I mentioned that I like to honor the animal as best as I can, by trying to pack out all meat, including organs. I was criticized and called out for using the word "honor" so I naturally defended...
It's not about being tough, its about doing what is ethically right- but the only explanation for not plucking the organ meat from a kill is either the hunter doesn't want to field dress an animal or doesn't care for the taste of them, period. If a hunter does not have the stomach or the taste...
sorry- but I am confused why people are saying that they carry side arm for the 2 legged critters not 4. Do other hunters try to rob you of your kill or something?
Yea, what Evan said- the attack pant is more for early season to mid. I called KUIU the other day and they would not tell me the release date of the Guide Pant because they themselves were not sure. My guess is mid summer, maybe a little sooner hopefully?
I believe you do not posses the mental and physcial fortitude to cut open a dead animal and eat its organs, which explains your defensive remark. If you look at any primitive culture that has relied on hunting and gathering, they all pay respect to the animal in which they have killed. Which...
I am hoping that we all do what is legally required of us as hunters in accordance to the law. With that said, anything else is at your own personal discretion.
However, I do feel strongly about this subject. Especially in the regards of hunters killing an animal and wasting organ meat because...
When you go out into the back country, does a wrist watch count as a part of your gear? ABC watches aka (altimeter, barometer, compass) have loads of features including alarms, sun rise/sun set times, moon phases, ascent and descent times, etc. Is it a useful tool to have on the hunt or just a...
The old philosophy goes that if you waste nothing you will want no more in which you have taken. So when you have an animal down, and you need to do a DIY pack out, what parts of the animal are worth leaving behind and why?
It's a great layer to have, repels water, cuts wind down and provides some warmth. However, I ran a KUIU guide jacket last year and it logged more time around town than in the mountains. Go with the KUIU guide vest, if you really want a softshell layer- this is what I am doing this year.
That is the natural function of the liver, to filter out toxins. Do not abuse the liver to begin with and a cleanse would not be necessary.
I still am curious how you will do, I think you are in for a night of abdominal pain and diarrhea to be honest. But I imagine it is like throwing up...
interesting topic- I have always been afraid to try this figuring I would ruin the meat by having it spoil. But you just hang it in a chill box and let it do it's magic?
Yea if I can't sleep I hit the stationary bike- it's normally when I have too much on my mind. Its better then just laying in bed starring at the ceiling...
