    Alpaca Hoodies

Meant to add that there is wide variety in “alpaca” clothing, as with anything else. I have a jacket made by altiplano I slation, which was based in Colorado but I think is out of business. It is all alpaca ( not a mix with synthetic) and without question is the warmest wool garment for its...

    Backup Rifles?

You mentioned loading a rig, so I assume you are driving. I would bring one. I always have a zeroed backup rifle in camp. Used it once so far, when I loaned it to another hunter who broke the stock on his. Just piece of mind in case something weird happens to your boomstick.

    Please help w/ Elk boots

I have had very good luck with the zamberlan tofane. All leathe r with a goretex lining sandwiched in. Roomy toe box, good flex, but stable stitchdown construction on the sole. 8” tops, but comfortable. Not cheap, but moosejaw has a sale on them I think. Well made.

    Aram Von Benedikt

it seems pretty obvious even from his account that this aram dude is an asshat, and outdoor life should dump him for this if they have any integrity.

5 lb 5 oz Backcountry Rifle Set-up. All stock.

I have the Weatherby backcountry 2.0 with steel action and a leupold 1-5 vx5 in sk rings. It is exactly six lbs. with sling. A bit more money than your rig, but I have been very pleased with it, and it is now my main hunting rifle. Very well balanced, a pleasure to carry and shoot.

    MagnaCut Blades?

I Have read that magnacut is essentially a stainless version of vanadis 4e. If that is true, it should be excellent. I have used Com 4v and vanadis 4e in knives, and the edgeholding is superb, not chippy. But those steels are not stainless, which I don’t mind. My 4e and 4 v knives take ferocious...

Weatherby is circling the toilet bowl

I have a Weatherby backcountry 2.0 (steel action/slim fluted barrel). it has proven to be an excellent rifle in all respects, very light, well balanced, extremely accurate and groups consistently well. The action has slicked up nicely and is quick, and its LEFT hand. For a made in USA left hand...

    Left hand quality rifle

Tikka is excellent. However, My favorite factory rifle is the sako 85. They make several versions in left hand, and mine has been superb. I have not had any of the ejection issues some right handers have ( scope turret on the other side, I guess).
