I pulled it out of the storage unit in Sept and put it in my insulated but not air conditioned shop. It's been plenty warm enough down here since. That may be what did it.

What about one of the attachments with the 2 vertical rails for carrying treestands? They attach to the outside of the rear rack and hold the stand vertically. You could probably fab something like this to carry 2 bow cases with handles up. This would keep your rack space free for packs. You can...
Like SoloWilderness mentioned, when possible you can camp right over the ridge from where you plan to glass from. This allows the thermals to push your scent down into the next drainage, not the one you're hunting.
