Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Appreciate the input, man. Unfortunately, there won't be any border crossings between now and turkey season, so we had to cancel. Trip will have to happen in 2021. The focus has now shifted to spot and stalk bears this spring...if it ever comes. Thankfully, the season has not been cancelled...

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Thanks, man. Trust me, if we are driving 9 + hrs on the off chance we scare up 8 lbs of meat.....we are hunting all day! Still working on the mouth reed....she won't be pretty, but it should be passable.

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

What about decoys guys? How many should you run? Tom's vs jakes vs hens? Jay scott posted a turkey setup yesterday that suggested use of tom, jake and multiple hens (did not say how many). Initially I had thought of only using a jake and a hen.

    Archery Antelope Tips and Tricks

Thanks, man. I have seen them in the past run up and down a fence line and then end up crossing at the same location, so if we strike out on decoy and spot and stalk that could be a potential. The area we will hunt is basically bald ass prairie, but it has subtle contours and folds. Often...

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

I typically hunt with neutral tones with technical hiking apparel, only because I can usually find discounted high end clothing for a good price and it is a little less conspicuous around town. I did buy some Kryptek tops off camofire (sweet deal) and a camo face mask just to help. Roosting...

    Maven S1

The weights are pretty much a wash, but certainly a straight maven will be more packable than an angled Meopta. I have sent an email to see if the cameraland price is only for the angled or straight. My preference is certainly straight if possible.

    Archery Antelope Tips and Tricks

Thanks for the insight, man. I happened to have a client in the office today who was taken two antelope with a bow....one spot and stalk from 74 yards and the other with a decoy from under 20. He suggested one scenario that works well is if a buck chases another antelope off to deliberately run...

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Thanks a bunch, ma Thanks a bunch, man. Everything I read had suggested camo was a must, but nice to know it is not the be all end all. Really appreciate the tips on calling setups vs spot and stalk. Extremely helpful.

    Maven S1

Great insight. My brother-in-law and I both agree that my Maven B2's are superior to his Razor's, so good to hear you had similar results with the gen 2 razor spotter. Bro-in-law runs the Gen 2 Razor, so I know what that image quality is, so nice to have something to compare the mavens and the...

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Will check it out thanks. I should also add that if any of you happen to have a great uncle in Montana with 2000 acres and a turkey problem we are more than willing to help him out.....sadly most likely by chasing them off said property.

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Appreciate the input. The other boys have the shotgun's locked and loaded, and we are sort of treating this as a team event. If one of us get's a bird "WE GOT A BIRD". If I am fortunate enough to have an opportunity all the better, but if we are hunting together and a bird slips up he is taking...

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Thanks, man. I definitely think patience will be a virtue. Sounds like we can't be charging around the woods like it is a youtube elk hunt.

Turkey Tips for Some Clueless Canadians

Thanks, man. Super pumped for it. We spring bear hunt, but it is always fun to try something new, and I hope this can be the first of many trips (while staying married). Sounds like finding where they roost is a critical component of bird hunting. Neat that they seem to prefer being called...

    Archery Antelope Tips and Tricks

Perfect, man. Exactly what I was looking for. I am with you on shot distance. We live on an acreage and I have the luxury to practice out to 100 yards, but under the gun is a different ballgame.

    Archery Antelope Tips and Tricks

As fun as I am sure antelope will be, every man has his limits. In my experience, landowners are generally super willing to let a guy on the property, particularly if you are bow hunting. I personally have not been turned down in years and at least half my hunting is on private (Where are you...
