    Field Bred Goldens

Thistlerock Goldens out of Elk River, MN We have three and they won't be our last. Great field bred dogs. Super hunters with tons of natural desire and intelligence. Also, great family dogs. I can't say enough good about them.

    The 22 creedmoor thread

I tried 75 and 88 gr. ELD-Ms in a 24" Bartlein chambered by Bugholes. The 88s shot a little better. The initial load workup was H4350 in Alpha brass. I worked up to 40.0 grains of H4350 at 3,200 fps. After the barrel sped up, they're running close to 3,300 and shooting pretty much one hole.

How would you skin the cat (elk)?

This is it right here. One at a time. Bees and flies. Work on the one in the sun or that will have sun first if it's bow season or hot You want to get the meat off, boned and in a bag and hung up in the shade as quickly as possible.

Compensator or suppresor for spotting your shot

Lots of good stuff above. Magnification, ear pro and suppressors. I had a Tikka 6.5 CM Superlight cut back to just in front of the flutes and threaded 1/2x28 and installed a TBAC 22 caliber CB that I had the gunsmith bore to 6.5. I mounted a TBAC 7 to it and it worked great. I've got more...

Let's See Your Semi-Custom Tikka Builds

I don't see the Tikka action as a standard offering on the AG web page. Was it a custom or did you inlet it? What action type do you start with? I really like yours! Thanks!

so the ammunition manufacturers are not at fault for the higher prices

Agreed! The places that aren't "gouging" don't have it on the shelves.

so the ammunition manufacturers are not at fault for the higher prices

Nope. There's another factor too. Adam Smith would say you're right, but what most dealers are afraid of is that consumers have long memories. BjornF16, just above, said it. If retailers raise prices much, to reap short-term profits, they'll lose long term customers. The businesses not...

    Larry Gougerfield

I bought Netflix stock several years ago when it was cheap. Was I hoarding? It's up 3,234% since then. If I sell it at market price, is it price gouging? Should I sell it at a discount to people who need some now and didn't buy when it was cheaper? If I stocked up on reloading supplies...

    Pack color - deal breaker

I've got two SG packs and love them. I've shot five mature bulls, and several smaller ones, with a bow, with SG packs on. The closest was a 7 point at seven yards. No need to worry about pack color. Things to worry about when bowhunting for elk - wind, wind, wind..... I don't do camo paint...

    Help Me Understand My Data

I've got a few Tikkas and the barrels seem a bit slow. I've been able to work up to factory velocities, or a bit above, without pressure signs. My Tikka 6.5 CM has an accuracy node at 2,759 fps with a 143 ELD-X, using H4350. I got higher velocities with RL 26, but with reduced precision. I...

Archery Elk question from new elk hunter

Wow! Hunting hard, wether it's a mile or six miles from the truck won't necessarily get you an elk. Hunting smart will give you a chance. There's a lot of experience on this thread, which you seem to disregard. I'm sure you have a ton of experience backpacking, but I'll make an assumption...
