My workload is up in the air for Friday, so I'm not sure what time I'll head up, going to try by mid day though

    2017 Washington Rondy

Ok I'm packed up. Heading out early and going to do a small hike. Maybe head up towards Waptus a ways. Last report I saw had the road driveable all the way to Pete TH. Looks like it might be a small group

Yes, I see no reason we can't walk in and camp. It's probably real close to being open, just shows as closed still on the fs page

That sounds good to me. I will plan on car camping. Owhi currently isn't open so we will have to park on the road I believe and walk in. If it does open it's $14/night per site. I will plan on heading up Friday morning at some point

    2017 Washington Rondy

Ok so we might be in trouble. I had to park about 1.5 miles from the trailhead. There is up to 24" of snow in places still on the road starting at 3.5mi from salmon la sac. I made it to Tired Creek before I gave up. My dog was having no more of the snow(that's my story and I'm sticking to it)...

    2017 Washington Rondy

I'm going to head up to see what kind of condition the road and trail is in tomorrow. Last report had the snow line only 1 mile from salmon la sac road. I think it's almost 6 miles to the trailhead. I have a pack loaded and might stay the night, or just do an out and back. The weather over the...

    2017 Washington Rondy

I don't know how long we want to wait to lock down a location, but I might be able to head out memorial weekend and check out the trails. I agree that's a long walk if conditions aren't good

    2017 Washington Rondy

I'm in for sure. Going to take Thursday/Friday off that week, going to try and head in Friday early morning I think Yep that's the trail, it's a decent poke but easy walking. Let's just hope the snow melts off quick. Once you get to the lake, everything else goes up up up

    2017 Washington Rondy

I heard a couple weeks ago that the road was closed and snowmobiles were using it. I'm sure it will melt off quick once the warmer weather hits

    Schnee's Beartooth

Not the Beartooth, but I have a year now on my absaroka boots and they are hands down the best boots I have had. I have long narrow feet and the fit is excellent. Never had a blister. Schnees has a great quality product

    2017 Washington Rondy

I'll be in again this year, just need to lock in the weekend on my schedule. We will most likely be a facing quite a bit more snowpack this year if this winter keeps up

    Question about First Lite gear

Has anybody come up with a fix for the seam on the crotch area of the Kanabs? I have a warranty pair that the seam already has suspect looking stitches, and want to reinforce it before it tears out. I was thinking a couple bar tacks across it like the 1 below the zipper might be beneficial...

Fat Guy Friendly Sleeping bags for cold weather below zero F

I would say a quilt does not meet item 1b. If you are going floor less, you need to keep in mind the fabric is somewhat delicate to have the weight they do.

School Me On AR Sights / Optics

I really like the vortex pst 1-4 illuminated on my AR. Quick acquisition, ability to shoot long range accurately, return to zero turret for easy elevation adjustments . Runs about 5 bills

    Switching from bag to quilt

Yes I generally sleep cold. Using both straps and a BA qcore sl R4.7? I think. I have the foot box zipped up and the lower strap sucked in. Part of it I think is the wind usually swirls around at night and blows in the open side of the shelter where my head is and right inside the quilt. I think...

    Switching from bag to quilt

So far, I haven't been loving my quilt. I get cold easy and I guess it shows. Generally wake up several times a night to reposition and try to keep it sucked in around me and get comfortable. It's a 10 degree and about 30 degrees is where it gets cold. But so far I'm only wearing base layers and...
