I have some knives on order from Charles. He is.not always the quickest to respond, but I have not heard from him since August. Does anyone know if he is doing well? Nice guy, good to talk to on the phone. Hope he is just distracted by something good.
I went on three big game rifle hunts this fall, spending nearly two months with some really great guides. These are guys that spend 5 months a year in the NWT and some that spent 4 months a year in British Columbia. They see more big game animals (moose, goats, caribou, elk and sheep) shot...
At the outset, in full disclosure I have never shot a Gunwerks rifle, never seen one, and don’t know anyone who has one or has seen anyone who has one. They may be the best rifle ever built. I do not know. I own more than a couple custom rifles. I enjoy reloading and load development. I...
You may have seen this on other forums. If so scroll onward and upward. I am a sucker for trying something new so earlier this year I decided to try the 164 grain Afterburner in a new 7 SAUM build. In general, I really like Berger bullets and know them well. However, Barnes were “okay”...
I probably know who I am using to do a full size of a dall sheep, but have two friends still looking at options. Who in your opinion are regarded as some of the best - currently - for sheep?
Thanks
I do not have a B&C record book. Does anyone know approximately how many all time book rams have been entered (170 inches and above)? Was looking at the number one on line and that thing is nearly unimaginable even when looking at a photo of the mount.
First, congrats to the sheep hunters that have harvested already this year. I leave the last week of August for a Dalls hunt.
Watching overall weight, so my question is does it really matter if I use 8x42 NL Pures or 10x42 NL Pures? I will have a guide and another spotter/guide. I can...
Well leaving for a sheep hunt this month. Got out the scope cover my wife bought me for Christmas. Apparently she thought my scope size matched another part of mine - she bought small.
If you have a large scope cover, and can part with it. Send me a PM. Thanks.
Yesterday, I stumbled across a hands free rifle sling. It was a cross between an Edgar Sherman and a War Bull. It functioned like a Sherman, but had a semi padded shoulder piece that could be used or removed from the sling. I have search the web for two days looking for it. I thought I had...
I bought a MDT Mountain BiPod that was supposed to come with a Pic rail attachment. It did not, but came with the ARCA rail top. I need a recommendation for a 3 to 5 inch ARCA rail to put on a EH-1 Manners Stock for hunting. Thanks.
My 7 Mag likes the 180 grain bullets better. If you have 180 grain Berger VLD bullets you are not using, but do use the 168 VLDs, message me and maybe we can trade. Thanks.
For those of you who size with a full length bushing die then use a separate mandrel, do you run the mandrel in once or twice?
It would impact tension, but I am not sure which would be the most consistent.
I am soon to have a rifle built and am considering my stock options. The last three have been built with Manners stocks. I like them. I really like carbon stocks over fiberglass. I have recently started to look at Foundation stocks, but know next to nothing about them. I am considering...
Posted on another forum so if you are seeing twice I apologize. I am shooting a 7MM Rem Mag. The load is 68.7 grains of RL 26. The bullet is a 162 Hornady ELD-X. The barrel a carbon proof. I full length resize with a redding bushing die. I use a .305 busing followed by a .2815 mandrel...
I posted this on another forum that is geared more towards just shooting, but thought I would get your input as well. I have two very good loads worked up for the same rifle. Each with the same powder, but different bullets and seating depths. I want to do one last test to see which is the...
We are into June and I am still working on a couple loads for fall hunts. Never been in this position before. Normally by April I have finished load development while temperatures are comfortable and cool. I don’t mind practicing in the summer. Is there a temperature where you say I am just...
