I went from a .30-06 to a .308 a few years back.
As already stated, mostly for handiness and packing around for 7-14 days continually during deer season, ammo availability and options are also a benefit.
I am comfortable taking a shot at a buck out to 450 with the .308. I have been shooting...
I prefer solids these days, although I buy camo outer layer tops still if they're hunting specific, mostly for archery.
Look up vintage hunting photos, lotta killers in blue jeans and button downs, not much camo to be seen.
Don't know where you're at, but my backyard bucks in NW WA don't give a damn about apples, bait blocks, salt, hay, or anything except the new growth coming out of thimble berries and cottonwood trees.
Consistently baited the same spot for the last 2 years just for fun and they don't touch...
I live in the N. Cascades and rock the Schnee's Timberline.
Barefoot shoes/boots most of the year, Vivo, Earthrunners, etc. etc. Timberlines fit my bill for narrow heel/wide toebox boot.
Love em, if you're anywhere near Granite I could potentially meet up and show ya.
Certainly looks more canine than cat to me based on the toes, but without a distinct pad mark it's hard to tell.
Canines you can draw an X thru the track and touch nothing, and a cat is as wide as it is long generally speaking. Looks like both statements are potentially true based on this...
@robby denning and @Ryan Avery should make a knowledge-based quiz of the BOAL thread. All new members are required to take it within 12 hours of signing up, and they get one attempt to pass.
If they cannot accurately answer, at the end of the quiz, who really took the BOAL, and whether or not...
I am no chemist, but we have specifically tested this on our last 8 hunts after reading about it a few years back.
We have had two identical coolers, one with milk jugs + salt + water and one with just milk jugs + water. Subject to the same environmental factors and conditions obviously.
There...
They have their pros and cons, but if you don't want to buy one, just make a walking stick.
As for myself, I take one pole/stick for archery hunts, and generally pack double poles for rifle. If I forget, I simply make a walking stick.
Surprised @robby denning article wasn't linked already...
Great point on the lowering, I had a hell of a fight with my OEM spare a couple years back...
When I upgrade (upsize) wheels and tires from OEM I also buy a matching spare set. Guys on the off-roading forums I frequent say you should mostly so if you're stuck in a sh*thole you aren't risking...
I feel for you man.
I whacked everyones dream 3x3 toad a couple years back, classic heart shot jump-kick, hunting partner over my shoulder confirmed good hit, we watched him go into a 15 yard diameter pile of brush, never came back out that we could see.
Waited an hour, blood went 60 yards to...
I went really deep down the rabbit hole for you many moons ago.
There is an individual whose name starts with "C" and rhymes with "bad" from Oregon who has been referenced on numerous sites as the culprit. He may or may not be a highly-followed "iNfLuEnCeR". But, just accusations at this point...
